Starfield Will “Become Legendary,” Says Composer, Who Believes People Weren’t Ready for its Launch

Those who have been following Starfield since its release in 2023 know that updates have been scarce in 2025. Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently hinted that news is coming soon, but whether the game will regain popularity remains uncertain. However, composer Inon Zur believes Starfield will ultimately become a legendary title.

I was reading an interview with Zur, and he had some really interesting things to say about working with Howard. He described Howard as incredibly persuasive and someone with a really strong personality. What struck me was how Howard could get his ideas across without being overly direct – he’d hint at what he wanted, letting the team explore creatively, but always guiding things towards his overall vision. Zur actually called him a visionary, saying he has a knack for seeing things that others only realize years down the line. It sounds like he’s a fantastic leader!

As you might expect, Zur thinks this situation also applies to Starfield. He believes players weren’t quite prepared for the game when it launched. Todd Howard, the game’s creator, made it clear that while not everyone would enjoy it, the development team was confident in their new approach and planned to stay the course.

He’s confident in his approach, and history shows that people eventually come to appreciate truly innovative ideas. It often takes time for others to understand a big vision, but strong visionaries persevere. Todd will do the same with Starfield. I’m certain Starfield will become legendary; it’s simply a matter of time.

The upcoming update for the space RPG isn’t a massive overhaul like a “2.0” release, according to Howard. Bethesda has said they’re adding new gameplay features, some smaller improvements, and making space exploration more enjoyable. Plus, a new story expansion is on the way, and it might introduce a new group called the Terran Armada.

There’s talk that we might soon see travel between planets in the game, though the details are still unclear. Bethesda hasn’t shared much about the long-term plans for Starfield, particularly with development continuing on The Elder Scrolls 6. However, Todd Howard mentioned in 2023 that the game would receive a significant amount of downloadable content after its release, with different sizes and scopes. It’s currently unknown if those plans have been altered, considering all the updates the game has already received.

Rumors suggest the PlayStation 5 could launch on April 7th, with pre-orders starting March 17th. We’ll share official details as soon as they’re available.
