Bethesda’s next major update for Starfield, called Free Lanes, arrives on April 7th with a lot of new features. It launches at the same time as the second story expansion, Terran Armada, which introduces a new enemy faction causing trouble in the Settled Systems. You can find more details below.
Free Lanes has added some exciting new features! You can now use X-Tech to improve your weapons with powerful Legendary Perks – even increasing magazine size. Ship systems have also been upgraded, and outposts are better than ever. Plus, you can get a Milliewhale as a pet! For collectors, action figures are available and provide helpful bonuses even when they’re not on display.
The update includes a few exciting additions! The Quantum Entanglement Device lets you carry certain items over into New Game Plus, and a new station called Anchor Point offers a variety of new quests. You’ll also discover the Moon Jumper, a vehicle that can almost fly on planets with low gravity, and a new companion called Model G. Plus, you can now recruit Muria, the popular character from New Atlantis!
The Terran Armada is a group that broke away from the main settled areas during the Colony Wars. They’re hostile to everyone, and players will need to understand why they’re acting this way and ultimately find a way to stop them, facing off against their robotic soldiers. You can even recruit a member of the Armada, Delta, though he’s not exactly friendly.
There’s plenty of content to explore, with options for both free and paid players, and Bethesda has hinted at even more additions. Keep an eye out for future announcements, and be sure to read our review of the original game.
