Stars Who’ve Never Won an Emmy: Seth Rogen, Kaley Cuoco & More

Amid a sea of excellent performances, only one can grace the stage and pick up the trophy.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by award season, and it’s surprising to see how many beloved TV stars haven’t *quite* snagged an Emmy yet! A great example is Seth Rogen – he’s been nominated nine times for shows like *Pam & Tommy* and *The Boys*, but the win still eludes him. It just goes to show how competitive things are in the industry!

This year looks promising for him, as he’s nominated for four Emmys for his work on *The Studio*: Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Seth Rogen, known for his early role in *Freaks & Geeks* in 1999, isn’t the only comedic actor who hasn’t won an award. Kaley Cuoco also hasn’t taken home a trophy, despite three nominations for her work on the HBO series *The Flight Attendant*. Surprisingly, she never received a nomination during her twelve seasons on *The Big Bang Theory* either.

Steve Carell has also been nominated for awards multiple times, receiving 11 nominations for his roles in *The Morning Show* and *The Office*.

Noah Wyle has another chance to win an Emmy on September 14th, and remarkably, he’s nominated for playing a doctor again.

Noah Wyle received five Emmy nominations in the 1990s for his role as Dr. John Carter on *ER*. This year, he earned two more nominations – for Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Drama Series – for his work on *The Pitt*.

Noah recently told *People* magazine that he’d almost given up on ever being nominated for an Emmy again, having not received one since 1999. He described finally getting the nominations as “really amazing.”

Only Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston, out of the main cast of *Friends*, have received Emmy Awards. Matthew Perry was nominated for an Emmy once for playing Chandler Bing, twice for his work on *The West Wing*, and once for *The Ron Clark Story*.

As a huge *Friends* fan, I’m still completely baffled that Courteney Cox has never received an individual Emmy nomination! It feels like a real oversight, especially considering how iconic she was as Monica. While she *was* part of the Emmy-nominated *Friends* reunion special in 2021, it was a group nomination, and she truly deserves one all to herself. Justice for Monica, I say!

The actor has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards throughout his career. He received three nominations for his work as Joey on *Friends* and four for playing a comedic version of himself in the show *Episodes*.

The actor received an Emmy nomination in 1995 for his role as Ross on *Friends*. He was nominated again in 2016 for playing Robert Kardashian, the father of Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, and Rob Kardashian, in the limited series *The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story*.

Connie Britton, well-known for her TV roles, hasn’t won an Emmy despite being nominated five times. She first received recognition for her work on *Friday Night Lights*, and later for *American Horror Story*, *Nashville*, and *The White Lotus*.

I’ve been a huge fan of this actress for years, and it’s amazing to see all the recognition she’s getting! She’s been nominated for an incredible nine Emmys on her own, and a whopping seven of those were for her hilarious work on *Saturday Night Live*. It really speaks to her talent and versatility.

Despite being nominated for an Emmy eight times, the actor hasn’t won yet. It’s a bit ironic – almost like asking, ‘What’s the opposite of gratitude?’ – a question his character, Dr. House, might pose.

Octavia Spencer, known for her Oscar-winning role in *The Help*, received her first Emmy nomination in 2020 for playing the lead character in *Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker*.

The beloved actress, who recently passed away, received 18 Emmy nominations throughout her career. Twelve of those nominations were for her famous role as Jessica Fletcher in *Murder, She Wrote*.

Cate Blanchett, a two-time Oscar winner, received an Emmy nomination in 2020 for her leading role in the limited series Mrs. America.

Despite never winning an Emmy, the actress known for her role in *Parenthood* has been recognized for her work with two SAG Award nominations and one Golden Globe nomination, all for playing Lorelai Gilmore on *Gilmore Girls*.

The Academy Award-winning filmmaker has also been nominated for two Emmys. He received nominations for Outstanding Non-Fiction Special for *Half Past Autumn: The Life and Works of Gordon Parks* in 2001, and for Outstanding Informational Special for *Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream* in 1995.

Amy Adams, who has been nominated for an Oscar six times, received an individual Emmy nomination in 2019 for her work on *Sharp Objects*, but she hasn’t won either an Oscar or an Emmy yet.

The actress received Emmy nominations in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2019 for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in *Game of Thrones*, but unfortunately, she didn’t win any of those times.

The actor was nominated for two Emmys for playing Jon Snow on Game of Thrones.

Beyoncé received four Primetime Emmy nominations in 2019 for her *Homecoming* concert film. She’s also been recognized with Emmy nominations for *Lemonade*, her *On the Run Tour* performance, and her Super Bowl XLVII halftime show. Additionally, she received a Daytime Emmy nomination for the theme song to *Talks with Mama Tina* for Outstanding Original Song.

The Academy Award-winning filmmaker received an Emmy nomination for his 2014 documentary, *Virunga*, which focuses on the lives of mountain gorillas. The film was nominated in the category of Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special.

Oh my gosh, Hugh Grant is *amazing* and he’s been nominated for Emmys – *Emmys!* – for both *The Undoing* and *A Very English Scandal*. I mean, it’s about time everyone recognized how brilliant he is! I knew he was incredible in everything, but these roles… seriously, perfection. I’m so excited for him!

The actor received Emmy nominations for his leading role in *This Is Us* in 2017, 2018, and 2019, but unfortunately never won.

Mandy Moore, known for her role in *Tangled*, received an Emmy nomination in 2019 for her work on *This Is Us*, but she didn’t win.

Lena Dunham’s show, *Girls*, earned the creator eight Emmy nominations, with recognition for her acting three times and her directing twice.

This isn’t Marvel-ous… Don has been nominated for an Emmy for acting 11 times and has never won.
