It’s barely January, but the new Prime Video thriller, Steal, is shaping up to be the most anxiety-inducing show of the year.
Sophie Turner, known for her roles in “Game of Thrones” and “Joan,” and Archie Madekwe, from “Saltburn” and “Gran Turismo,” play best friends Zara and Luke. Their day at work at an investment firm begins normally, but quickly turns chaotic when armed robbers break in and steal a huge sum of money, forcing Zara and Luke to follow their instructions.
I started with this image of my workplace being robbed,” he said with a laugh. “That initial thought was the beginning of the story, and I immediately knew it could be a really compelling thriller.
That lived experience, Nikitas hoped, brought a level of authenticity rarely seen in the genre.
He explained that the events portrayed were incredibly realistic, based on his own experience working at the company. He’d made sure the process of transferring money in the script was exactly as it would happen in reality, and he hoped viewers would find it authentic.

The official description asks a crucial question: who would steal billions of pounds from everyday people’s retirement funds, and what would motivate them to do so?
Detective Chief Inspector Rhys, played by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, is focused on solving the case. However, he’s personally struggling with a gambling addiction and needs to manage his own finances while dealing with hidden motives and conflicting priorities within the complex criminal investigation.
Greg Brenman, the show’s executive producer, anticipates that ‘Steal’ will generate discussion. He expressed hope that it will “provoke a lot of conversation,” and Nikitas aims for the series to give audiences something to ponder.
He explained that the film is designed to stay with viewers and encourage them to revisit it with new perspectives. He believes they’ll discover different layers of meaning upon a second viewing.
