On Steam’s Top Sellers chart, a different game has taken the number one position, and it’s not “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater”. This upcoming title from Konami will be available in just four days, or two days if you’ve already pre-ordered. As the release date nears, more and more people are opting for pre-orders, causing it to climb up the chart to the second spot. The only game that’s managing to outsell it is another yet-to-be-released title, which seems to be generating even more pre-orders.
Currently, Steam’s top-selling game as it goes live is “Borderlands 4,” which, much like its predecessors “Borderlands 3,” “Borderlands 2,” and the original “Borderlands,” appears to be gearing up for a significant impact. It’s not unusual for games to claim the Steam Top Sellers spot based on pre-orders, but it’s less common when a game is still a month away from release. Interestingly, there’s intense competition in this space; “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” is coming soon, and “EA Sports Madden NFL 26” has just hit the market.

Why Are So Many Pre-Ordering Borderlands 4?
Hey there fellow gaming enthusiast! I’ve got to tell ya, Borderlands 4 is undeniably one of the most eagerly awaited games this year, and it’s the main reason I’ve pre-ordered it. Unlike Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Gearbox Software hasn’t given early access for those who pre-order Borderlands 4. Instead, we just get the Gilded Glory Pack which includes a few snazzy skins. It seems like the pre-order numbers aren’t artificially inflated, suggesting that Borderlands 4 is set to be one of the biggest hits on Steam in 2025.
There’s a free copy promotion and an exclusive Collector’s Edition available only at GameStop, so its Steam pre-orders might be underrepresenting actual demand. So yeah, are you among those who’ve pre-ordered Borderlands 4? Let me know what you think in the comments!
