Two new role-playing games (RPGs) are coming to Steam in the next week. One will work seamlessly with the Steam Deck right away, while the other hasn’t been tested and verified by Valve. Being “Steam Deck Verified” means Valve has thoroughly tested a game on the handheld device to ensure it runs smoothly from beginning to end, with no need for players to adjust settings or controls. It guarantees a great experience on the Deck’s screen and with its built-in controls.
The role-playing game *Digimon Story Time Stranger*, developed by Media Vision and Bandai Namco, is launching on October 2nd. It will be available on Steam for $70, but players with a Steam Deck will be able to play it right away with optimized performance. A few days earlier, on September 30th, *Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles* will also be released on PC, though it’s currently unknown if it will be officially supported on the Steam Deck.
About the Game
The latest Digimon game, *Digimon Story Time Stranger*, is the seventh installment in the *Story* sub-series. It’s the first new *Story* game in eight years, following *Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory* which came out in 2017. Digimon fans have been eagerly anticipating this release, and early previews suggest it will be the most expansive and polished game in the series yet. This has even sparked interest from those who only casually enjoy Digimon.
Similar to past titles, this game lets you journey through both the real world and a digital world, where you’ll collect, train, and battle with Digimon in turn-based combat.
Based on Steam’s release calendar, this game is likely to be the next big title officially verified for the Steam Deck. However, just because a game is verified doesn’t guarantee it will run perfectly. Fortunately, the game doesn’t require a powerful PC, so it should run well on the Steam Deck. Along with *Digimon Story Time Stranger*, this major Xbox release will be added to the growing list of Steam Deck Verified games in October.
