Steph McGovern confirms return to the BBC for two shows after Packed Lunch axed in 2023

Previously with the BBC, presenter Steph McGovern has announced she’ll be back on TV again, this time gracing BBC screens with not one but two fresh programs. Her daytime program, Steph’s Packed Lunch, was discontinued by Channel 4 last year.

Steph’s Packed Lunch debuted during the Covid-19 lockdown year of 2020, however, it was canceled three years afterwards because of diminishing viewer ratings and shifting viewer preferences.

The daily-aired show, broadcast at 12:30, was known for its celebrity appearances, lively discussions, cooking segments, and games. Notably, it made news headlines in 2021 when comedian Joe Lycett seemingly left the stage – later revealed as a prank – following a critique by McGovern regarding his use of a plastic Yop bottle.

On Instagram, McGovern announced her exciting comeback to TV hosting, as she’s set to present not just one, but two brand-new programs on the BBC. However, she didn’t mention which channel will be airing a third show that she’ll be hosting.

She added: “1) A brand new series on BBC One daytime (Not a magazine/chat show).

“2) A brand series on BBC Two evenings (Still not a magazine/chat show).

3) A classic television show, almost as old as I am, has been on the air! I’M REALLY EXCITED!!!

As a fellow film aficionado, let me express my gratitude for the heartwarming messages I’ve received about my upcoming television projects. Although I haven’t shared the details with you just yet, your enthusiasm doesn’t go unnoticed! Stay tuned for more updates!

Before moving to Channel 4, McGovern served as the primary business presenter for BBC Breakfast from 2011 to 2019.

She has swapped the glitz of Hollywood for the untamed wilderness of Costa Rica on Netflix’s survival series, Celebrity Bear Hunt. In this show, famous personalities face tough challenges and aim to elude renowned explorer Bear Grylls who is hunting them in the jungle.
