The return of The Life of Chuck to cinemas happens at the same time as the home video release. You’ll be able to buy the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD versions of The Life of Chuck starting September 30th, distributed by Neon.

The Life of Chuck is receiving positive reviews, earning a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an 80% approval score from critics based on over 250 reviews. Viewers also seem to enjoy it, giving the film an 88% audience score from more than 500 verified ratings. Here’s what the movie is about: “This moving story honors the life of Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz, showing his experiences with love, loss, and the complexities of being human.”
The film is adapted from a story within Stephen King’s 2020 short story collection, If It Bleeds, specifically a piece called “The Life of Chuck.” The movie presents the life of Chuck, the main character, by unfolding events in reverse order. Despite receiving very positive reviews, the film didn’t perform well financially, grossing only $17.6 million globally. Critics described The Life of Chuck as a touching and funny story about growing up.
Speaking with The Times, the author discussed the story and its potential to become a movie. “I didn’t think it was a particularly good story,” the author revealed. He also explained how the story came about, saying, “I was in Boston to watch a Red Sox game. I noticed a man across the street near Walmart who had knocked over a couple of plastic buckets and was performing for tips. I wondered, what if someone came along and… started dancing to that? And then I thought, ‘What if that person was Chuck?’”
The Life of Chuck features a talented cast including Tom Hiddleston, Jacob Tremblay, Mark Hamill, Benjamin Pajak, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mia Sara, Harvey Guillén, and Matthew Lillard. Moviegoers will have a chance to see it again when it returns to certain cinemas on October 1st.
