The initial trailer for Avengers: Doomsday confirms the return of Steve Rogers, the original Captain America. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Steve seemingly retired to a peaceful life in the past, having gone back in time to be with the love of his life, Peggy Carter. He finally got the happy, normal life he deserved after sacrificing so much to be a hero.
Viewers of early screenings for Avatar: Fire and Ash were surprised with a first look at the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which confirms the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The trailer begins with Steve riding a motorcycle home to a farm, accompanied by a familiar Avengers theme. Inside, he briefly looks at his old Captain America costume before lovingly gazing at a newborn baby. As we’ve heard, the trailer concludes with a countdown to the release of Doomsday.
The Avengers: Doomsday Teaser Sets Up Some Major Captain America Twists

Rumors have circulated for a while about Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, returning in the upcoming movie, Doomsday. A short preview leaked recently, but many questioned if it was real. Now it’s confirmed – and it suggests big changes are coming. Captain America has had children in Marvel comics before, and this preview might be introducing one of them to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s interesting, though, that Steve Rogers will ultimately give the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson, instead of passing his legacy on through a child of his own.
Steve Rogers’ peaceful life was never meant to last, and it looks like he won’t get the happy ending he hoped for. Interestingly, we see him looking at his old Captain America suit, even after becoming a father, suggesting he might return to action. Becoming a father may have given Steve a renewed purpose, and he now wants to protect the future for his children. However, the danger he’s facing is greater than he knows – a catastrophic event is coming that threatens the entire multiverse.
Recent Marvel movies are increasingly focused on the theme of fatherhood. We’ve seen hints of this with Doctor Doom’s interest in Franklin Richards in Fantastic Four: First Steps, Thor becoming a father figure in Love and Thunder, and now Steve Rogers having a child. These connections suggest a significant focus on family and parental bonds will be a key element in the upcoming Doomsday project, potentially driving the story in a compelling new direction.
