Great news for Peaky Blinders fans! After a break since the sixth season in 2022, a new film called ‘The Immortal Man’ is coming out next March. Plus, a sequel series is confirmed, set in 1953, and will have at least two seasons on BBC One.
This information comes from Steven Knight, the creator of the show, who has a lot on his plate right now. In addition to overseeing his current shows, ‘A Thousand Blows’ and ‘SAS Rogue Heroes,’ he’s also writing the script for the next James Bond movie.
In a recent exclusive interview for our video series, The TopMob Writers’ Room, where we explore the minds of screenwriters, Steven Knight shared some updates on the future of Peaky Blinders and explained how the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the show’s earlier storylines.
When asked about how his vision for the show evolved as it became popular after launching in 2013, Knight explained that he always intended to set the story between World War I and World War II. He wanted to start at the end of the first war and conclude at the beginning of the second. The COVID-19 pandemic also impacted the plans, forcing them to cancel the seventh season.
We didn’t want to stop the story with World War II like we did in season seven, so we created a movie – and it’s coming out really soon! It’s amazing and actually brings the story up to the war, showing everything that happened leading into it.

When discussing the upcoming series, The Immortal Man, Knight described it as both familiar and distinct, promising a lot of action and excitement.

During an interview with The TopMob Writers’ Room, Knight was questioned about whether the movie’s storyline would connect to the upcoming sequel series. He playfully avoided answering directly, stating, “You’ll have to wait and see—I can’t reveal anything right now.”
Knight recently discussed the upcoming second season of ‘A Thousand Blows,’ premiering this month on Disney Plus. He also shared updates on his other work, such as ‘Taboo,’ his adaptations of Charles Dickens novels, and House of Guinness.
