Steven Spielberg is yelling “cut” on Timothée Chalamet’s recent comments.
Following comments where the star of Marty Supreme claimed people aren’t interested in ballet or opera, the director of Jurassic Park is now speaking out about the statement, which caused controversy.
During a conversation at SXSW on March 13th, Steven explained what makes movie theaters special. According to Variety, he said the true magic happens when people from all walks of life come together in a shared, darkened space. He believes a great movie creates a collective emotional experience that stays with everyone long after they leave, and that feeling is unique and powerful.
You see it in films and at concerts,” the 79-year-old explained. “It also happens at ballet and opera, for that matter.”
As the audience applauded, Steven added, “We hope this continues, and lasts indefinitely.”
He made these statements following a February interview with Matthew McConaughey, where Timothée, age 30, discussed different types of art.
The actor from Little Women expressed admiration for those who publicly advocate for keeping movie theaters open. During a discussion with Variety and CNN, they said they wouldn’t want to be in a situation like ballet or opera, where there’s pressure to support an art form even if it’s lost its audience. They quickly added that they have full respect for people who work in those fields.

Steven isn’t the only celebrity to address comments made by the actor from Beautiful Boy. Recently, Misty Copeland – a groundbreaking principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre as the first Black woman to hold the position – also shared her perspective.
Misty shared that she was excited to help promote Marty Supreme, connecting it to her work as an artist. Speaking at an event for Aveeno in New York City on March 10th, she explained that while her art form might not be mainstream like movies, it still holds cultural significance and lasting value.
Last November, a professional ballerina appeared in promotional materials for the Oscar-nominated film. Recently, the movie’s social media highlighted her, sharing a current photo of her wearing a Marty Supreme jacket alongside a childhood dance photo. The post celebrated her journey as inspiration to “Dream Big.”

She pointed out that opera and ballet have endured for over four centuries for a good reason. She believes that having the chance to experience these art forms can be transformative, and she’s dedicated her career to making them accessible to more people. Her goal is to help everyone recognize how valuable and meaningful opera and ballet are to our communities and culture.
The author of Firebird explained that the actor’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the influence of opera and ballet. They believe each art form—film, opera, and ballet—has its own unique value and shouldn’t be measured against each other.

In June 2024, football player Jason Kelce responded to a fan’s comment about his hygiene on Twitter. The fan had jokingly said Kelce appeared as though he didn’t wash his legs or feet, and Kelce replied, “What kind of weirdo washes their feet…”
The retired Philadelphia Eagles player later doubled down on his comments.
On his podcast, New Heights with his brother Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes joked, ‘What kind of person washes your feet?’ He then clarified, ‘I’ll definitely scrub off any visible dirt, though.’

More than ten years after telling a story about witnessing a clown’s death in a car explosion at the circus when he was a child, the Twilight actor confessed that the story was made up.
Robert remembered telling The New York Times Style Magazine in December 2024 that he reacted with complete surprise. He said he immediately wondered if the person he was speaking to was possessed, saying, ‘What on earth?’
As for what he said during the 2011 Today interview promoting his film Water for Elephants?
He explained that one of the clowns had died in an accident. Their miniature car exploded, and it was a truly frightening experience. Everyone immediately ran to safety.

Grandma knows best.
In an October 2022 episode of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian shared a personal story about how her grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, unexpectedly played a role in a private moment with her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
Kim Kardashian told MJ, Kris Jenner, and Khloé Kardashian that she and Pete Davidson were at the Beverly Hills Hotel when she remembered something her grandmother told her. She explained that her grandmother believed having sex in front of a fireplace was a way to truly enjoy life, so they decided to do it as a tribute to Kris.
Grandma’s reaction? A nod of approval.
Kim jokingly remarked, “It’s strange to think about your grandmother right before being intimate!” MJ responded with a laugh, “I know, but everyone has a past!”

I’m always so touched by the beautiful family Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have created. It’s clear their love extends to everyone – their daughter, Wyatt, who’s eight, and their son, Dimitri, who’s six. They just seem incredibly close and loving as a unit, and it’s wonderful to see!
So much so, that the Black Swan actress revealed they keep an open-door policy at home.
She told TopMob News in September 2022 that this also extends to the bathroom. She explained it’s simply become normal for her family, including the children, to openly discuss and accept natural bodily functions.
Mila explained she decided to just let her family in after they repeatedly asked to come inside. She said, “I finally thought, ‘Never mind, I’ll just leave the door open.’”
Pre-kids, she might not have imagined she’d flush that particular boundary away.
She said she never imagined she’d become comfortable enough to use the restroom with the door open.

Jennifer Garner shared a funny story about a mishap on set. While filming the 2007 movie The Kingdom, she accidentally bit her own tongue during a fight scene – a little more than she bargained for!
Jennifer described a scene with Sala Baker where the director, Pete Berg, instructed Baker to attempt to harm her. She explained that they hadn’t rehearsed much, and Berg told her to focus on surviving however she could.
She continued, explaining that they both jumped into action, and she ended up climbing onto his back. She even bit his ear – they have a photo to prove it, showing a piece missing! They weren’t messing around.

Ghouls just want to have fun.
During an October 2022 episode of The View, while discussing a woman who claimed her home was haunted by “sexual ghosts,” Sara Haines posed a surprising question to her co-hosts: “Is it possible to get pregnant from a ghost?”
Okay, so this came up on live TV – totally unexpected! My co-host, Joy Behar, had the most hilarious response to a question about ghosts and pregnancy. She joked that she’s had experiences with a few ghosts herself, and thankfully, no pregnancies resulted! It was a really funny moment, and honestly, a surprisingly relatable take on a weird topic. Sometimes you just have to laugh!
“I’m going to leave that comment as is,” Whoopi Goldberg responded. “I’m not sure everyone heard what Joy said, but I’m choosing not to address it further.”

Okay, so you will NOT believe this! I’m completely obsessed with Hoda and Jenna, and I just read the most hilarious thing. Apparently, while they were getting ready for the show, Hoda found out Jenna always goes commando! Like, always! I’m dying! They’re so close, sharing everything, but this was a surprise even for Hoda. It just makes me love them even more – they’re so real and funny, and now I’m picturing Jenna running around backstage with… well, you get the idea! I can’t stop laughing!
Hoda Kotb shared a funny story from November 2022 on Today with Hoda and Jenna about having to run back to the dressing room before the show. She realized Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t wear underwear.
Jenna’s rationale? Well, no underwear might just be more convenient to her.
She explained that the style creates a more flattering shape and also allows you to pack lighter. She added that there are many other benefits too!

Looks like someone hasn’t been keeping up.
Britney Spears related to a popular line from Keke Palmer – “He could be walking down the street and I wouldn’t know a thing” – because she confessed she didn’t recognize Pete Davidson or Scott Disick.
Britney shared a funny video from March featuring Pete Davidson—who was dating Kim Kardashian at the time—and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick, having a night out. She said the video had her laughing a lot.
Britney apologized for sharing the post, explaining she didn’t know the people in the video but found it hilarious. She has since removed the original post.

Before Chris Evans became famous as Captain America and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, Jana Kramer dated him and thought he was a charming and attractive guy.
The singer shared on her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer, that this happened over ten years ago. While she doesn’t remember exactly how many times they went out, she does remember their final meeting.
Jana, who was around 26 at the time, said Chris asked her to come over when he had some friends visiting from Boston.
Jana recalled that the last thing she remembered was her partner going to the bathroom right after she’d eaten asparagus, which changes the smell of your urine. They didn’t spend the night together; he stayed up late with friends, and the next morning she left his house feeling embarrassed – what she jokingly called the ‘asparagus walk of shame’.
She added, “I never heard from him again.”

Not all of these confessions are amusing.
In December, television writer Elisabeth Finch confessed that she had fabricated a story about having a rare bone cancer. She had originally shared this false diagnosis with ELLE magazine eight years prior, and it even became the basis for a plotline on Grey’s Anatomy.
Elisabeth recently confessed to telling a lie at age 34, calling it the biggest regret of her life. She explained to The Ankler newsletter that the falsehood grew over time and became a heavy burden. She also clarified, “I have never had cancer.”
Finch, who stepped down from his role on the ABC medical drama after being temporarily suspended, admitted, “I messed up badly. It was completely unacceptable, and I take full responsibility.”

Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.
The reality star told The New York Times she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger, joking that she was open to trying everything.
She admitted in June that she’d even consider something extreme – like eating something disgusting daily – if it meant she could look younger. She emphasized she was serious, saying, ‘I just might.’
In a July 2022 interview with Allure, Kim admitted she was mostly joking when she made the comment, but she didn’t think it was a bad idea.
Kim continued, saying she’d likely do almost anything for youth, even something disgusting. ‘If someone told me eating a bowl of poop daily would make me look younger, I’d probably do it,’ she admitted.
When asked if she could eat any, she said, “Perhaps just a small bite.” She added that a full bowl would be too much for her.

Jelly Roll could’ve used some saving from himself.
During an April 2025 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer behind “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t hesitate to tell all the details.
“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”
To be honest, Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.
He firmly believed it was just a misunderstanding. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience turn from supportive to completely against me.”
