Stevie Wonder has signed, sealed and delivered his response to ongoing rumors.
During a performance in Cardiff, Wales, as part of his Love, Light and Song U.K. tour, the R&B icon clarified persistent rumors suggesting that he is not truly blind.
Stevie declared during his July 10th show, as recorded by a fan on Instagram, ‘I’ve been pondering something I wanted to share – when was the right time to make it public?’ However, he felt compelled to speak up at that very moment. “There’s been talk about my personal life, rumors swirling around,” he admitted. “But let me assure you, what you truly know is the reality.
And for anyone who didn’t know the truth, the 75-year-old set the record straight.
Stevie explained, “In reality, I lost my sight soon after being born. However, this turned out to be a blessing as it enabled me to perceive the world in a more profound way – the way of truth and essence. Instead of seeing people based on their physical appearance, I can sense their spirits.
Additionally, Stevie has on other occasions conveyed profound insights regarding his blindness as well.
Instead, let me rephrase it for you: In truth, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer disclosed that he managed to maintain an optimistic perspective despite losing his sight as a child, even when his mother Lula Mae Hardaway found it hard to accept this news.
In a 2024 episode of The Wonder of Stevie audiobook series, Stevie shared, “I came into this world, and soon after, I lost my sight. My upbringing was shaped by these events, giving me a profound understanding of them.
Remembering that his mother wept “every night” following his initial diagnosis with the disability, the “Superstitious” singer eventually told her, “Mama, please don’t cry, it’s causing me pain in my head.
Stevie continued, “I mused, ‘Perhaps there’s a greater purpose for me beyond all of this,’ and indeed, history validated that thought.

The former star from Bachelor Nation revealed he had to visit the hospital, crawling on all fours, because of intense back pain that worsened during a camping trip with a companion.
At this moment, from my knees to my toes, it’s surprisingly numb,” he remarked during his Trading Secrets podcast on March 2025. “To give you an idea, about two, three weeks ago, or even a month ago, I was likely squatting around 295 pounds. Now, I can’t perform a squat on one foot. I can’t manage a one-legged squat; I would topple over. It feels as if I’ve had a stroke or something.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
In December 2024, a player from the AHL had a skate of another player’s slice him open during a game. He needed 25 stitches to close the wound. Back in February 2025, the former star of “Even Stevens” revealed that she had been accidentally shot in the face while they were celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday by going clay pigeon shooting during a trip together.
She posted on Instagram that there was another group present who accidentally fired their weapon incorrectly, striking her in the face. In total, she was injured in five spots; one of the bullets narrowly missed hitting her directly in her right eye.

In Amy Schumer’s own words during an episode of Call Her Daddy in January 2025, she expressed her gratitude for the internet despite its sometimes harsh nature. She recounted how doctors chimed in on social media, expressing concerns about her appearance and suggesting that she might have Cushing syndrome due to spiking cortisol levels or steroid injections. This led Amy to recall, “I’m getting trolled by doctors?”
After further investigation, Amy discovered that she had indeed been receiving steroid injections for her scars from previous surgeries, such as a breast reduction and C-section. This realization led her to self-diagnosis of a form of Cushing syndrome.
Now, Amy is simply relieved to have received the correct diagnosis and learn that her condition will improve on its own. As she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Discovering that I have the kind of Cushing syndrome that will resolve itself and that I am healthy was the best news imaginable.
Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident in March 2022 during breakfast with husband Justin Bieber when she began exhibiting symptoms similar to a stroke. She described the incident on YouTube a month later, explaining that she couldn’t respond to Justin’s questions and struggled to speak or move the right side of her face.
Although the drooping stopped and her speech returned, Hailey sought medical attention out of caution. The doctors found a small blood clot in her brain, which they classified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack). Further examination at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that she had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO).
Hailey explained that the blood clot had traveled into her heart, escaped through the PFO, and reached her brain, causing the TIA. She underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is currently feeling well.
In the same year when Hailey went through her health ordeal, I too encountered a similar challenge. Specifically, in June 2022, I was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome – a condition that temporarily affected movement in some areas of my face and necessitated me to postpone the rest of my Justice World Tour.
In an Instagram video around this time, I explained that this virus had targeted the nerve in my ear and facial nerves, leading to facial paralysis. As you can see, one of my eyes didn’t blink, I couldn’t smile on one side of my face, and the nostril on that side wouldn’t move – indicating full paralysis on that half of my face. It was challenging to eat properly as well, but luckily, the paralysis eventually subsided.
My dear followers were informed by me that it had become progressively harder for me to consume food. However, after some time, I started feeling much better. Hailey shared on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America that “He’s doing really well,” and added, “He’s feeling a lot better now. Obviously, it was just a very scary and random situation to happen, but he’s going to be totally fine, and I’m just grateful that he’s okay.

In Atlanta one day, he recalled saying, “I was experiencing such a severe headache, so I asked my friend for an aspirin.” However, before receiving the aspirin, he fainted and lost consciousness for approximately 20 days.
Upon being examined by a doctor, who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, his sister Deidra Dixon became concerned and drove him to another hospital. There, they discovered that he had suffered a brain bleed, leading to a stroke.
Following a 20-day stay in the hospital, Jamie woke up on May 4 in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. “All I can say is that I am grateful for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly felt I needed them all.
Emilia Clarke, famously known for her role in Game of Thrones, filmed intense battle scenes. However, in 2019, she penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” for The New Yorker. In this piece, she described a severe headache at the gym that led her to the toilet where she became violently ill. The pain intensified, and she realized her brain was damaged.
She was rushed to the hospital for a scan, which revealed a life-threatening type of stroke called a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), caused by bleeding in the space surrounding her brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, an arterial rupture.
Emilia underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia and was often found muttering nonsensical words. A week later, the aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month.
However, in 2013, a growth detected during a brain scan had doubled in size, requiring another surgery. “When they woke me,” she wrote, “I was screaming in pain. The procedure had failed. I had a massive bleed, and the doctors made it clear that my chances of surviving were precarious if they didn’t operate again. This time, they needed to access my brain through my skull.”
Fortunately, Emilia is now reportedly in perfect health.
Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family following a severe stroke she experienced in January 2024. After the incident, her loved ones quickly came to her aid as she texted them about her condition and shared a photo with TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024. Due to other health issues like lupus and failing kidneys, Cori ended up staying in the hospital for an extended period. However, today she is recovering well, stating that while she had to focus on regaining motor skills, her overall health was good.
In her twenties, Shailene Woodley experienced numerous health difficulties that included losing hearing, extreme fatigue, stomach pain, and fear of food due to body discomfort and confusion about identity. This lasted for approximately ten years. However, she persevered by seeking help from both conventional medical doctors and holistic healers. Now, after focusing on her physical and mental well-being, Shailene is happy to report that she is in good health.
