What We Saw Today
The new trailer revealed a lot more about the game. We now know that STRANGER THAN HEAVEN will be set across five different time periods ā 1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965 ā and take place in five different cities in Japan.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio representative Masayoshi Yokoyama shared that they couldn’t reveal much beyond what was shown today. He explained that creating a game with five cities and five different time periods is a huge project, and the team is dedicated to accurately and uniquely portraying these often-overlooked settings. He believes it will offer players an experience unlike any other.
We got a fast-paced preview of the gameās intense and fluid combat, showcasing a variety of features like weapons, grappling, and battles against multiple enemies, as well as how players can interact with the environment. Yokoyama-san hinted that this was only a small taste of whatās to come, promising even more details will be revealed soon.
We also caught hints of exploring cities via tram, budding relationships, and, true to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studioās style, a strong emphasis on visually stunning food. All of this is set to a fantastic jazz-drumming soundtrackāmusic has consistently been a highlight in the trailers for STRANGER THAN HEAVEN so far.
āThat music is really catchy, isnāt it?ā Yokoyama-san remarked. āAnd thereās much more great music coming ā some of my personal favorites havenāt even been released yet.ā
We noticed some people in the cast who looked familiar, but Yokoyama-san isn’t saying who they are or what role they’ll play.
He playfully asked who the person might be. “We werenāt shy about showing some key moments in the trailer,” he explained, “and players can expect to see a lot of familiar faces. Weāll be sharing more details during the upcoming Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger Than Heaven broadcast.”
