Stranger Things Easter eggs confirmed for Duffer Brothers’ new Netflix horror

The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, are now executive producers on a new Netflix horror series called Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. Keep an eye out for hidden references to their previous work, though!

The new series centers on Rachel and Nicky, played by Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco, as they navigate the complexities of being soulmates while experiencing a series of unusual events during the week before their wedding.

The couple travels to Summer House, Nicky’s family’s historic home, and is introduced to his vibrant and eccentric family, including his sister Portia (Gus Birney), brother Jules (Jeff Wilbusch), and Jules’s wife, Nell (Karla Crome).

We also meet Jules’s son, Jude (Sawyer Fraser), a perceptive kid who notices details others miss. And if his voice reminds you of Noah Schnapp’s character, Will Byers, you’ve got a good ear!

Haley Z. Boston, a key figure working with the creators of Stranger Things, hinted at a detail viewers might notice after the show ends. She mentioned that toys from Stranger Things are visible in a character named Jude’s room, suggesting Jude looks up to Mike but feels a stronger connection with Will.

Boston also mentioned a nod to the film The Evil Dead, specifically a shot done from a ‘very bad point of view,’ and hopes viewers will recognize it.

Each episode drew inspiration from a different horror film. For example, Episode 2 has elements reminiscent of Rosemary’s Baby. While Uncut Gems isn’t strictly a horror movie, its fast-paced, anxious energy felt right for Episode 7, which unfolds in real time.

The series will star alongside Marco Morrone and Luca DiMarco a talented cast including Jennifer Jason Leigh, known for her role in ‘The Hateful Eight’, Ted Levine from ‘The Silence of the Lambs’, Mason McDonald of ‘Gen V’, and Brandon Knox (‘Cross’).

So, Stranger Things might be over, but the Duffer Brothers are already diving into their next projects! I just heard they’re releasing Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 in April, which sounds like a fun extension of the world we all love. And that’s not all – they’re also developing a brand new Netflix series called The Boroughs. These guys are clearly keeping busy, and I’m excited to see what they come up with next!

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen will be released on Netflix on Thursday 26 March.
