After almost ten years playing a role in Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard is now focusing on his music career.
Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in Stranger Things, told Esquire magazine that he’s now prioritizing his band, The Aubreys, and his music. With Stranger Things finished, he doesn’t have any acting jobs confirmed right now. However, he hinted that he might return to the It franchise someday, though he didn’t say exactly how – he could have a major role, a small cameo, or even just be referenced in the story.
I’m so excited to see Finn really focusing on his music right now! He’s said he’s not leaving acting forever, which is great, but he wants to be really selective about the roles he takes. He’s only going to commit to projects that he’s truly passionate about, and honestly, I respect that so much. Right now, though, his priority is touring with the band and making amazing music for all of us fans, and I can’t wait to see what he creates!
I’m committed to acting, but I’m only interested in roles I’m truly passionate about. Besides that, I’m planning to tour with my band next year and release a new album. I’ve been writing music for the past two years, and I’m excited to finally record it. I’m keeping my options open and seeing what happens.
I’m a big fan of The Aubreys! I first heard their song “Getting Better (otherwise)” in Finn Wolfhard’s movie The Turning back in 2020 – it was awesome hearing it in a film with Mackenzie Davis and the rest of the cast. They quickly followed that up with their first EP, Soda & Pie, and then released a full album called Karaoke Alone in 2021. They’ve been consistently great ever since!
Besides being in the band The Aubreys, Finn Wolfhard also started a solo music career. He released his first album, ‘Happy Birthday,’ in June 2025 through AWAL. The album demonstrated his musical talent, proving he’s more than just an actor. He’s already planning to record more music soon to continue building his career as a musician.
Stranger Things season 5 is now available to stream on Netflix.
