I’m absolutely counting down the days until Stranger Things season 5 drops! Honestly, it feels like the biggest TV event of the year, and I have a feeling everyone – young and old – is going to be hooked by its amazing action and cool vibe.
The final season of the show isn’t for everyone. The UK’s age rating board suggests it will contain frightening creatures, disturbing violence, and adult content, so viewers should be aware before watching.
The story continues with our brave young heroes preparing for a last battle against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), the ruler of the dangerous alternate world called the Upside Down.
When is it okay for kids to start watching Stranger Things? Here’s a guide to the show’s age rating, especially with the release of season 5.
Stranger Things season 5 age rating – how old do you need to be to watch?

In the UK, the show Stranger Things is rated for ages 15 and up by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). This means it’s considered appropriate for viewers aged 15 and older.
Netflix states this show received the rating because it contains depictions of sex, sexual content, violence, graphic injuries, discrimination, threats, and horror.
It’s funny to think that the young actors who play the main characters on Stranger Things were actually too young to watch the first couple of seasons when they first came out. By the time season 3 premiered, though, most of them were old enough to tune in.
Netflix has increased the age rating for Stranger Things in the US, changing it from TV-14 to TV-MA. This new rating, meaning the show is now intended for viewers 17 and older, suggests future episodes may contain more mature content (according to ScreenRant).
Currently, it doesn’t look like Stranger Things will get a higher age rating than ’15’, but we’ll let you know if that changes in the next few weeks.
