Okay, so I’ve been checking the scores for the final episodes of Stranger Things, and wow, things are… complicated. It looks like fans have really turned on Volume 2, and the second-to-last episode is currently the lowest-rated one ever for the show. That’s a huge surprise, considering how much support Stranger Things has always had. It seems like a lot of viewers are actively leaving negative reviews, which is definitely a noticeable shift from the usual enthusiastic response.
Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 7 becomes the worst-rated episode
Viewers haven’t reacted well to the latest season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. The second part of Season 5, released on December 25th, includes an episode that received the lowest ratings of any episode in the show’s entire run.
In the seventh episode, “The Bridge,” Will Byers, portrayed by Noah Schnapp, reveals he is gay to his friends. While many fans celebrated this development and showed their support for the character, others reacted negatively, leading to what seems like a coordinated effort to post negative reviews online.
In addition to reactions about Will’s story, many fans were generally unhappy with the second-to-last episode. Some felt a particular scene happened at the wrong moment, as the characters were getting ready to fight Vecna. Others criticized how the episode moved, was written, and was put together, echoing similar complaints they had about the first part of the season.
As a big fan of this series, I have to say the latest installment, “The Bridge,” is a bit of an outlier. It’s currently sitting at a 5.4 on IMDb, which is surprising considering the rest of the franchise consistently scores much higher. We’re talking everything else usually lands between the high 8s and low 9s, and nothing has ever dipped below a 7.8 – until now. It’s based on over 107,000 votes, so it’s not just a few people feeling this way.
A recent episode has significantly affected how viewers rate the current season. The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 5 has fallen to 56%, which is the lowest the show has ever received. Previous seasons were much better received – Season 4 had an 89% score, Season 3 had 86%, Season 2 had 90%, and the first season scored a high 96%.
Netflix hasn’t said anything publicly about how viewers reacted to the episode or its ratings. The final episodes of Stranger Things will be released on December 31st.
