The final episode of Stranger Things reunites the Hawkins crew as they face a terrifying threat: Vecna’s plan to destroy the world. Eleven and her friends must confront him in his own realm, and though their plan is complicated and doesn’t go smoothly, they’re determined to end his reign of terror. After Joyce finally defeats the man once known as Henry Creel, a sense of relief washes over everyone, and they begin to look forward to a future free from fear.
As is typical for Stranger Things, the show ends on a somewhat sad but hopeful note. Eleven makes a big sacrifice to protect her friends and prevent others with her abilities from being exploited. While her boyfriend, Mike, initially doesn’t understand her decision, he eventually sees that there’s still reason to be optimistic about the future. The ending also hints at four potential spinoff shows.
4) The Next Generation

The last part of the finale centers around the main characters graduating in 1989. Dustin is the valedictorian and delivers an inspiring graduation speech about being yourself, which resonates with everyone, including Stacey. She invites Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Will to a party, but Mike thinks they should skip it because he has another plan.
Mike, Lucas, Will, Dustin, and Max gather at the Wheeler house for one last game of Dungeons & Dragons. It’s a bittersweet moment, as they all realize things will be different afterward. But some things stay the same: Holly and her friends quickly take over the basement to begin their own adventures. Though we don’t see what happens, it’s clear these new characters in Hawkins will have their own stories to tell.
3) Montauk

Mike and his friends aren’t the only ones considering changes. After defeating the creatures from the Upside Down, Hopper goes back to being Hawkins’ police chief and serves the town for a year and a half. However, the idea of a new beginning appeals to him, and he suggests it to Joyce over dinner, leaving her with something to consider.
After getting engaged, Hopper reveals he’s been offered a job in Montauk, New York. While they don’t immediately decide if they’ll move, it feels like a logical step for their future. Interestingly, Montauk was initially considered as the location for Stranger Things, suggesting the creators might be planning a new story set far from Hawkins.
2) The Philly Crew

Hawkins owes its survival to the courage of Nancy, Steve, Jonathan, and Robin. Even though they’re young and want to enjoy their lives, they consistently risk everything to do what’s right. These experiences make them stronger and help them find their purpose.
The final scene of Stranger Things brings the four main friends back together after being separated for several months, giving them a chance to reconnect. Their conversations hint that they haven’t quite clicked with the new people they’ve met. As a result, they decide to meet up regularly in Philadelphia. While they don’t explicitly plan any mischief, knowing their history, it’s likely they’ll find some trouble anyway.
1) El’s Solo Adventure

As we saw earlier, Eleven sacrifices herself by staying in the Upside Down to close the portal just before it collapses. She tells Mike to let everyone know she made this choice willingly. While he delivers the message, he can’t quite accept that she’s gone.
During our D&D game, I was telling my friends my theory about Eleven. I think she totally faked her death, probably with Kali’s help, and is living somewhere far away. I even showed them a clip of someone who looked like her near some amazing waterfalls! Obviously, since none of us have seen her, it’s just a guess. But it definitely leaves the possibility open for the Duffer brothers to bring her story back if they want to.
