Street Fighter 6’s Upcoming Roster Addition Alex Gets Teaser Trailer Ahead of Spring Release

Capcom is expanding the character list for Street Fighter 6 with Alex, and they’ve just dropped a new teaser trailer. The short, 90-second trailer shows Alex battling Andore in a cage match.

Alex is a character inspired by professional wrestlers, and the latest trailer highlights this with him performing wrestling moves like knee strikes, drop kicks, and power bombs, ultimately defeating Andore with a headlock. Originally planned for a Winter 2025 release, Alex will now be available in Spring 2026. Similar to other characters added to Street Fighter 6, players can also learn his moves and train with him as a master in World Tour mode for their custom character.

Alex is one of the new characters coming to Street Fighter 6 as part of the Year 3 update, joining Sagat, C. Viper, and Ingrid. He’s a returning character, having also appeared in Street Fighter 5. Ingrid will be added later this year, following Alex’s release.

This character first appeared in Street Fighter 3, where he was essentially the face of the game. However, both the game and the character weren’t very popular at first because the original version didn’t include any of the familiar characters like Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li. Later versions, especially Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, became much more popular with competitive players. This was because the game featured a wider range of characters, including the new faces from Street Fighter 3 as well as returning favorites from games like Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter Alpha.

The latest fighter added to Street Fighter 6 was C. Viper, who joined the game in October. She’s known for her quick, technical fighting style that uses powerful kicks and punches. C. Viper first appeared in Street Fighter 4 as a secret CIA agent infiltrating the Shadaloo organization to stop the villains M. Bison and Seth.

Prior to the addition of C. Viper, Street Fighter 6 brought back Sagat, a popular character who first appeared as the final boss in the original Street Fighter game in 1987. Sagat’s fighting style focuses on keeping opponents at a distance with a combination of fireballs and powerful strikes, including uppercuts and knee attacks.
