The Street Fighter movie produced by Sony and Legendary is still making significant strides, and in recent months, it has been filling out a talented and unexpected cast. This movie boasts a variety of stars from the film industry, music world, and professional wrestling, with Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, two prominent WWE figures, already on board. Fresh reports hint that another past Champion is set to join this lineup, implying that another well-known Street Fighter character has also been added to the roster.
The latest news, as reported by Fightful Select, reveals that ex-IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto has joined the cast of the Street Fighter movie. His role will be portraying the iconic Street Fighter character, E. Honda. Although it’s not definitive, his new acting gig might have influenced his recent loss of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Zack Sabre Jr., potentially being a significant contributing factor.
Adding E. Honda to the roster further enriches the cast with another iconic character from Street Fighter II, leaving only a handful of characters yet to be featured in the movie. At this point, those still unaccounted for are Zangief, Dhalsim, and Sagat; however, if we expand our scope to include Super Street Fighter II, we also find Cammy, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and Fei Long who have not been cast yet.
At the moment, the lineup comprises Callina Liang (playing Chun-Li), Andrew Koji (as Ryu), Noah Centineo (in the role of Ken), Jason Momoa (depicting Blanka), Curtis 50 Cent Jackson (portraying Balrog), Roman Reigns (for Akuma), David Dastmalchian (assuming the character of M. Bison), Orville Peck (playing Vega), Andrew Schulz (cast as Dan), Eric Andre (the Announcer), Cody Rhodes (as Guile), and most recently, Goto as E. Honda.
Among the unselected characters, Cammy and Sagat appear to have a strong chance of being included in the storyline. There are plenty of other fighters who could also make fantastic additions to future productions. If Street Fighter proves successful at the box office, there are numerous directions we could take for a sequel. Characters such as Sakura, Juri, Dee Jay, Terry, Elena, Crimson Viper, El Fuerte, Gouken, R. Mika, Ibuki, Charlie, Rose, and Birdie would all be potential candidates for the cast.
This version retains the original meaning while using simpler language and a more conversational tone to make it easier to understand.
If the initial movie fails to succeed in the box office, it’s unlikely that subsequent films will follow. However, given the promising lineup, there’s a possibility of resonating with franchise lovers while attracting new fans. We’ll only know for sure if they manage to achieve this success.
