Street Fighter Movie Reveals First Look at Live-Action Ken (and He’s Ripped)

The filming for the live-action Street Fighter movie has commenced, and following a hint at WWE star Cody Rhodes as Guile, we now get a sneak peek at another character in the movie. Actor Noah Centineo shared an Instagram picture of himself in his trailer, suggesting his drastic transformation for the part of Ken Masters. Notably, Centineo was previously linked to the upcoming Masters of the Universe film, but he has evidently put on a lot of muscle to embody Ken in this much-anticipated project. Additionally, he seems to have grown out blonde, shoulder-length hair similar to his Street Fighter character, and accompanied the photo with the lighthearted comment, “Road brawler.

Although there hasn’t been an official announcement from the studio or the film’s social media, this new image offers us a glimpse at the actor’s metamorphosis into Ken for the upcoming Street Fighter movie. This transformation is quite different from the look he sported in The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before films which catapulted him to fame. The picture doesn’t reveal much more than the guitar on his bed and what seems to be a book the actor is reading on set. You can see the full Instagram photo below.

A Challenger Appears: Noah Centineo’s Ken Master In the Street Fighter Movie

Centineo plays a character in the diverse ensemble of actors featured in the live-action version of Street Fighter. The film also boasts Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Andrew Koji as Ryu, and so on. This movie is directed by Kitao Sakurai from a script written by Dalan Musson, inspired by the renowned Street Fighter video game series.

Previously, a film based on the Street Fighter series has been produced. Back in 1994, an iconic yet critically panned live-action Street Fighter movie hit the screens. This production featured Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen, Wes Studi, Jay Tavare, Gregg Rainwater, Robert Mammone, and Grand L. Bush. Despite receiving a poor reception with just a 11% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it was able to gross $99.4 million against a production budget of $35 million. In the following years, there were also a live-action television mini-series in 2014 named Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist and another movie titled Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li released in 2009.

Although Assassin’s Fist received positive reviews with a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was only streamed on Machinima’s YouTube channel. Conversely, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li flopped at the box office, generating only $12.76 million globally against a production budget estimated to be around $50 million. However, the upcoming Street Fighter film will originate from Legendary Entertainment, who are also responsible for producing the current lineup of live-action Mortal Kombat movies.
