Strictly Come Dancing confirms Dani Dyer replacement – and it’s another Love Island winner

Amber Davies will be competing on the 2025 season of Strictly Come Dancing, taking the place of Dani Dyer who had to pull out because of an injury, the BBC has announced.

Amber, a seasoned performer in London’s West End, is joining the show and will dance with Nikita Kuzmin in the first live performance.

The actress first became well-known after winning the reality show Love Island in 2017 with her then-partner, Kem Cetinay. Since then, she’s focused on acting, taking on leading roles in productions like Pretty Woman, 9 to 5: The Musical, and The Great Gatsby.

She was recently confirmed to be leading the Legally Blonde UK tour as Elle Woods.

Amber described joining Strictly Come Dancing as “absolutely wild.” She shared that she’s been watching the show with her family since childhood, and being a contestant is a lifelong dream.

I’m going to try my best, and I’m wishing Dani a quick recovery. I hope I can make her proud.

She and Nikita will dance a waltz during tomorrow night’s first live show.

Dancing requires you to keep your legs straight and maintain a tense posture, while skating is all about bending your knees. I need to constantly remind myself to bend my knees – it’s a challenge because I naturally stand very upright. It’s a trade-off, really. Skating on ice is just completely different from dancing.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 27th September.
