Bill Bailey said he was asked to host The Celebrity Traitors, but he couldn’t take the job because of other commitments he already had.
The former winner of Strictly Come Dancing recently told the Australian show Today that he’s a potential host for the program.
He revealed that he was offered the chance to host both Traitors and Celebrity Traitors, but had to decline because he was already committed to another project.
TopMob has reached out to the BBC and Studio Lambert for comment.
Bailey shared that he received an invitation to compete on the Prime Video show Last One Laughing, but couldn’t participate because he was already committed to another project.
“The recording was when I was actually away filming a travel documentary.” he said.

According to his representative, Bailey was asked to host The Traitors in 2022, but he couldn’t because he was already committed to his En Route to Normal tour. The filming schedule simply didn’t align with his performances.
According to the BBC’s Kate Phillips, Alan Cumming was originally considered to host The Traitors before Claudia Winkleman was chosen. This information came to light late last year.
On the ‘The Rest Is Entertainment’ podcast, Phillips explained that Alan Cumming was first considered to host the show because he had just agreed to participate in the American version.
We considered Alan Cummings for the role because he’s a well-known and popular Scottish actor. We did ask him, but unfortunately, he wasn’t available. He was already committed to filming in America and had another job scheduled during our dates.
We started brainstorming other potential hosts, and Studio Lambert had a great list. I immediately thought of Claudia because I’d worked with her on Strictly Come Dancing. She’s fantastic on that show, not just because of the dancing, but because she genuinely connects with and cares about the people – the contestants and everything happening with them.
Phillips said she called Winkleman, who was hesitant about filming outside her home, and offered to have the production company send her the Dutch version of the show so she could review it.
“She watched that and she was in straight away.”
Good news for fans of The Traitors! The BBC has renewed the show, and The Celebrity Traitors, for another three years, meaning you can expect to see more of Claudia Winkleman hosting from the castle until at least 2030.
Fans can expect the fifth season of The Traitors in 2027 on BBC One and iPlayer, with new seasons planned for 2028, 2029, and 2030.
More of The Celebrity Traitors is on the way! Season 2 is expected to premiere later in 2026, with seasons 3, 4, and 5 planned for 2027, 2028, and 2029, respectively.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, who leads entertainment programming at the BBC, announced that they’ve renewed both The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors through 2030. She also expressed gratitude to the team at Studio Lambert Scotland for making the shows a success.
