Strictly Come Dancing pro shrieks as judge Anton Du Beke shocks with ambitious stunt

Tonight’s live Strictly Come Dancing show kicked off the new season with plenty of sparkle, a few nervous moments, and the usual mixed reaction to Craig Revel Horwood’s critiques and scores.

One of the celebrities expected to shine on the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 dance floor is Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, best known as Nitro from the show Gladiators.

Harry’s energetic Cha Cha was a hit with the judges, and included a memorable moment where he did a push-up while his partner, Karen Hauer, was on his back. This performance earned him 19 points and a strong position on the Week One leaderboard.

Harry was understandably emotional after his first dance performance, but the conversation quickly shifted to how physically demanding the routine was.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas observed that the contestant seemed a little nervous, but ultimately praised their performance, saying they did a great job.

Upon his turn, Anton Du Beke enthused: “It’s a whole thing!”

Anton looked at the dance floor, mentally replaying the steps, and appeared hesitant to speak.

“Shirley, let’s go!” he exclaimed, jumping down from the judges’ table and landing on the floor.

Anton proceeded to perform several push-ups as Karen shrieked in surprise, clearly ticked.

Motsi Mabuse clutched Shirley, both howling with laughter – but then Nitro took it up a notch.

I remember the scene so vividly! He yelled to the judge, Anton, asking if he wanted a lift, and then gestured for him to come onto the dance floor. It was hilarious – he wanted Anton to try and get on his back, copying the amazing stunt he’d just done with his professional partner, Karen. Such a fun moment!

Karen cried out as she gripped Anton’s hands, steadying him while he balanced on Harry’s back. Harry, strong and skilled, continued to do push-ups even with the judge riding on his shoulders.

Okay, so Harry and Karen finally made it to the Clauditorium, and Claudia Winkleman was practically in stitches recounting the chaos! She confessed there was a *lot* of shouting backstage – apparently, Harry and Karen’s antics with Anton really set everyone off. She was laughing about it, saying they were ‘screaming up here’ while it happened. Honestly, it sounded like a total scene!

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6:20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
