Strictly Come Dancing’s Montell Douglas wows judges with joyous Couple’s Choice

As a reviewer who’s spent decades immersed in the vibrant world of dance, I can confidently say that Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe’s performance on Strictly Come Dancing was nothing short of extraordinary. Their Carnival-inspired number, a beautiful fusion of Caribbean roots and Afro-infused rhythm, was a testament to the power of dance as a medium for storytelling and honoring loved ones.

On this week’s episode, Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe of “Strictly Come Dancing” astonished the judges with a spectacular dance routine inspired by carnivals.

In the Couple’s Choice dance, Douglas decided to honor both her Caribbean roots and her beloved grandmother, who initially sparked her love for music and dance, by dancing to Skeleton Move by Master KG and Zanda Zakuza.

In a video before her dance, the Olympian shared that their Couple’s Choice dance was a tribute to her Caribbean heritage. It has Caribbean influences and African rhythms woven into it, perfectly blending our cultures together.

In her familiar abode, Douglas amusedly shared a sneak peek of an upcoming Carnival performance with his loved ones, expressing: “The idea is to gear up for Carnival, let’s bring the celebration this week.

She went on to movingly explain how her beloved grandmother passed away last year, which was a devastating loss as she helped to raise Montell and was the “backbone” of the Douglas family.

Nan inspires us with her joyful, loving, and lively approach to dancing, which makes it truly unique. I’m eager to share in this experience with her,” she expressed to her dear ones.

Without a doubt, her performance left everyone impressed, as both the crowd and judges were exhilarated by its energy and enthusiasm.

In a heartfelt compliment, Motsi Mabuse expressed her deep admiration for the performance, while Shirley Ballas conveyed that Montell’s grandmother is beaming with pride, watching over her tonight and showering her with magical encouragement for her exceptional performance.

Anton Du Beke expressed: “What a wonderful event! An occasion honoring a dance, an occasion marking a night – please, if you reach the finale, promise to repeat it once more.

In the end, the pair almost maximized their score at 39 points, with Craig Revel Horwood standing out as the lone judge who didn’t award a perfect 10 – instead, he gave them a 9, whereas the remaining judges all gave 10s.

As a cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but exclaim my delight as Montell and Johannes share the top spot on this week’s Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard! They’ve tied with Jamie Borthwick from EastEnders and Michelle Tsiakkas, who equally impressed the judges with their electrifying Paso Doble. What a dance-off to remember!
