Strictly fans say Paddington “stole the show” as bear performs with McFly’s Tom Fletcher

Musicals Week on Strictly Come Dancing was a hit with viewers, and the impressive performances weren’t limited to just the celebrity dancers and their professionals.

The ballroom was treated to a special performance by Tom Fletcher of McFly, who sang “The Explorer & The Bear” from Paddington: The Musical. He was joined on stage by Paddington Bear himself, thrilling the audience.

Fletcher introduced the bear onstage and they finished the song together in a duet. The song was originally written for a popular musical in London by the lead singer of McFly.

The stage version of Paddington involved a lot of creative effort and technical skill. A performer wears the Paddington suit, while a remote-controlled animatronic head brings the character to life. An off-stage actor provides Paddington’s voice.

Despite a perfect score of 40 for Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin’s Charleston – performed to ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ from the musical Guys and Dolls – it was a surprise appearance by a beloved mascot that really got Strictly Come Dancing fans buzzing.

Okay, let me tell you, Paddington on Strictly Come Dancing’s musicals week was genuinely delightful! I was really struck by the performance – it was both amazing and beautiful. One fan perfectly summed it up, and I have to agree – Paddington, and especially Tom Fletcher’s involvement, really shone through. It was a highlight of the show, honestly.

Many others agreed that the bear’s appearance was the highlight on Saturday’s episode of Strictly.

The show was already filled with emotion – EastEnders actor Bavinder Sopal needed comforting from judge Motsi Mabuse after he and Julian Caillon received a standing ovation for their beautiful Viennese Waltz. So, it’s not surprising that many Strictly Come Dancing fans were moved to tears when Paddington Bear appeared.

People on social media shared emotional reactions to the film, with one fan tweeting that Tom and Paddington unexpectedly made them cry. Another user exclaimed that Paddington was beautiful and felt very real, causing them to tear up.
