Strictly presenting job ‘ruled out’ by ITV favourite

Now that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have announced they’re leaving Strictly Come Dancing at the end of the year, TV personalities are being asked if they’d be interested in becoming the new hosts.

Dermot O’Leary, a familiar face from TV shows like The X Factor and This Morning, is one of the people who’s been interviewed lately.

During an appearance on Ireland’s The Six O’Clock Show this week, Brian Dowling and Katja Mia asked Ryan O’Leary if he was considering becoming the host of Strictly Come Dancing, asking him to either confirm or deny the rumors.

O’Leary was quick and firm in saying “deny”, before explaining why.

“You know, being an X Factor kid, that’s like Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy,” he said.

After Dowling pointed out that Simon Cowell likely wouldn’t approve, O’Leary playfully responded that Cowell would still come after him, even though their show is no longer airing.

I’ve been following the buzz about who’s going to host the show, and while it seems like O’Leary isn’t interested, there are still a lot of names being thrown around! I heard rumors about Alex Jones and Bradley Walsh possibly taking the gig, which would be wild. But I’m also seeing reports that the hosts of ‘It Takes Two,’ Janette Manrara and Fleur East, might be in line for the main show, and honestly, I’d be really excited about that!

Stacey Dooley, Kevin Clifton, Rylan Clark, Emma Willis, and Graham Norton are all being considered as potential hosts for the show.

Daly and Winkleman have announced they’re leaving Strictly Come Dancing. In a statement, they shared how much they’ve enjoyed working together and presenting the show, calling it a dream job. They always planned to leave as a pair and feel now is the right moment.

We’re so excited for the rest of this incredible series, and we want to express our huge gratitude to the BBC and everyone who works on the show. They’re a fantastic team, and we’ll truly miss working with them every day.

Honestly, knowing this show is ending is hitting me hard – saying goodbye feels like a real loss. But I think the spirit of ‘Keep Dancing’ will definitely live on, even if it’s just me and my friends shouting it at each other on a lazy night, probably in comfy clothes with a pizza! That’s what Tess and Claud always gave us – a feeling you could carry with you.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 22nd November at 6:35pm.
