Strictly Come Dancing is always full of emotion, and the recent movie-themed week brought even more drama, extending all the way to the judges.
I was so blown away watching George Clarke’s dance! He and his partner Alexis Warr absolutely killed it with their K-Pop-themed routine – it was like something straight out of Demon Hunters! The judges clearly loved it too, giving them a fantastic score of 31. I’m seriously rooting for him!
After George finished performing, the judges, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood, became the center of attention due to a strong disagreement about his dance.
Guest judge and mentor Cynthia Erivo praised George and Alexis, saying she was incredibly proud of their performances and found their portrayals of the characters believable. She commended them on a job well done.
I was so impressed with what Shirley said to the YouTuber! She told him he’d really come out of his shell and that his performance was incredible – like watching an angel. She even said kids watching at home were going to love it, because we all were! It was just an amazing moment.
Anton Du Beke initially described George as quiet, but noted he became more confident as things went on.

The arguments began when Craig shared his feedback, agreeing with Anton that the performance lacked precision. He disagreed with Shirley, stating it wasn’t synchronized. He firmly told Shirley she was incorrect, explaining that K-Pop performances should appear seamless and unified, like a single dancer, which this one wasn’t.
He acknowledged it was a tough performance and a significant challenge for both of them. However, while the judges might have seen things differently, Shirley felt their dance was actually quite impressive.
Motsi Mabuse described feeling caught in the middle of a disagreement, like a child caught between arguing parents, and many watching – both in the audience and at home – likely felt the same way.
Okay, so there was a little bit of a tricky moment, but it absolutely didn’t ruin the dance for me! Craig gave it a 6, which felt a bit harsh, but the other judges really loved it – Motsi gave it an 8, Shirley a fantastic 9, and Anton an 8 as well. It was a strong performance overall, and I was thrilled with the scores!
George admitted the song and performance were outside his usual style. On his podcast, Useless Hotline, he explained that the producers wanted him to perform a song that had already become incredibly popular online, saying, “It’s just crazy… I understand what the producers are going for – they want the internet guy to do the thing that’s broken all the records.”
He admitted he was just as confused as everyone else, saying, “I’m learning this at the same time as you are. All I know is it has something to do with K-pop and a company called Soda Pop.”
Surprisingly, he didn’t have to be a big fan of the popular Netflix show to perform well – or get a reaction from the judges.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 11th October at 6:05pm.
