As a big Strictly fan, I was really saddened to see all the negativity directed at Amber Davies online. Nikita Kuzmin has spoken up, asking viewers to be kinder – and honestly, it’s a much-needed message. It’s easy to forget there’s a real person on the receiving end of those comments, and he’s pleading with everyone to think before they post. It’s just a dance competition, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
Davies has recently responded to criticism she’s faced during her time on the show, especially after she and Nikita won the dance-off that led to Lewis Cope being eliminated.
Amber said on the show It Takes Two that while she usually tries to be resilient, the beginning of the week had been particularly difficult for her.
Just a quick reminder that I wasn’t originally planned for this role. I stepped in as a last-minute substitute and I’m simply doing the best I can.

Okay, so Instagram’s being tricky! I can’t actually display this content right now because of how things are set up with Contentpass. Apparently, I need to sign out of Contentpass first to be able to see it. It’s a bit annoying, but that’s the workaround – I’ll have to log out to view whatever’s on Instagram.
After Nikita and his partner received a perfect score of 40 for their Tango, host Claudia Winkleman asked Nikita why he thought Amber should make it to the final.
Nikita told Amber that despite facing constant negativity since she started, and especially this week, she consistently showed up to training with a positive attitude, choosing to ignore the hateful comments.
You’ve always been so loving and kind, even offering little things like a ginger shot. You consistently put my needs before your own, showing you care about me every single day. You’re a truly lovely and caring person.
I just want to ask everyone watching to please be kind – it doesn’t cost anything, and Amber doesn’t deserve any negativity. She deserves love, because I wouldn’t be where I am today, and this show wouldn’t be as good, without her.
The couple also wowed the judges earlier in the semi-final with a Couple’s Choice routine, earning a high score of 37.
After scoring 40, the couple is currently near the top of the leaderboard with a total of 77 points. However, it’s still uncertain if that will be enough to keep them safe from elimination in this weekend’s dance-off.
The race to the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 final is down to the wire, with just 24 hours left until the finalists are revealed.
Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
