Stricty Come Dancing viewers wowed as judges’ “incredible” costumes dubbed better than contestants

Halloween week on Strictly Come Dancing began with a bang, as the judges kicked off the show dressed in spooky costumes.

Dressed as characters from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, the four judges walked onto the dance floor to the song “Backstreet’s Back” by the Backstreet Boys and then showed off a few playful, zombie-like dance steps.

The performance was well-received by the studio audience, with Claudia Winkelman calling it “extraordinary” and Tess Daly praising the performers’ dedication.

The enthusiastic response wasn’t just within the studio; viewers online also shared their opinions and reactions on social media.

Okay, so the buzz online about the judges’ outfits is intense. I’ve been scrolling through X, and the reactions are hilarious – one person called the costumes incredible, while another jokingly said they’ve officially kissed sleep goodbye! It sounds like the judges really brought it with their looks, maybe a little too much for some viewers.

The judges’ costumes were so striking that many viewers felt they actually outshone the contestants’ outfits.

One viewer commented that the judges seemed to be wearing a lot of makeup, and many others agreed. Some people also felt the elaborate costumes distracted from the dancing performances.

While the judges’ costumes initially grabbed everyone’s attention, their dancing also became a talking point. Many viewers playfully teased them for intentionally performing the dance moves incorrectly.

Vicky Pattison kicked off the show with a fantastic American Smooth dance, performed to Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” Ellie Goldstein and George Clarke were the next contestants to be judged.

Shirley occasionally stood to applaud particularly good moments in the performances, though her many layers of clothing made it a little challenging.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 2nd November at 7:15pm.
