MAPPA, the animation studio behind popular anime like *Jujutsu Kaisen*, the final season of *Attack on Titan*, *Chainsaw Man*, and *Hell’s Paradise*, is known for tackling unique and often unusual stories. They’ve recently announced they’re revisiting a series that promises to be even stranger than their previous work: *Dorohedoro*. After a five-year hiatus, MAPPA is bringing back this magical and supernatural world.
If you’re looking for a truly strange and unique anime, *Dorohedoro* stands out. The story centers around a sorcerer with a lizard head who’s trying to find out who turned him that way. After its initial release in 2020, many viewers doubted a second season would ever happen. But now, along with a new look, MAPPA has revealed what’s next for Kaiman and his wild journey.
Kaiman is a unique character – half human, half lizard – and his unusual anatomy is openly displayed. The series features striking imagery, like wizard masks hanging from hooks, creating the chaotic and visually dynamic style that defines Dorohedoro. Fans can expect this same blend of shocking, stylish, and comical elements in the upcoming release, which is scheduled for Spring 2026 and will be available worldwide at the same time!
A new key visual has been released for *Dorohedoro*, and the series will be available worldwide around Spring 2026! Get ready for its shocking, chaotic, and uniquely vibrant style. #Dorohedoro

The Lizard Head Returns

If you’re looking for a unique series, check out *Dorohedoro*. Here’s the premise: the story takes place in a bleak city called “the Hole,” where sorcerers kidnap people and use them for cruel experiments. Nikaido finds Kaiman, a man with a reptile head who doesn’t remember his past. They team up to hunt down and kill the sorcerers, hoping to break the spell on Kaiman. But when the leader of the sorcerers, En, learns about a “lizard-man” killing his followers, he sends a team to the Hole, sparking a conflict between two worlds.
MAPPA, the anime studio behind Dorohedoro, has a lot planned for next year. In addition to the return of Dorohedoro, they’ll also be releasing the second season of Hell’s Paradise and the long-awaited third season of Jujutsu Kaisen. While Dorohedoro may not be MAPPA’s most well-known series, it could be the strangest anime released in 2026 – and perhaps even by the studio itself.
