Sucker Punch Boss Comments on inFAMOUS Remaster Demands

Sucker Punch knows fans want a remastered version of Infamous, but there’s a key obstacle. While the PlayStation 3 faced criticism for its initial high price, a major security breach, and development challenges, it was still a strong console. It launched some amazing exclusive games – titles that really shaped the PlayStation we know today. Franchises like Uncharted, The Last of Us, and the Souls series all started on the PS3, but some didn’t make the transition to later consoles.

The *Infamous* series is another PlayStation franchise that hasn’t received the same treatment as some others. While *Infamous: Second Son* was released on the PS4, the original two games weren’t brought over, unlike *Uncharted* and *The Last of Us*, which allowed new players on PS4 to experience them. Although cloud streaming lets you play some PS3 games, it’s not the best way to enjoy them, and fans are hoping for remastered versions. Now that the developers, Sucker Punch, are focused on the *Ghost of Tsushima* series, many are starting to wonder if *Infamous* will ever get a continuation.

Infamous Remaster Is Possible, But it Has to Be the “Best Idea”

Following the positive reception to *Ghost of Tsushima*, Sucker Punch Productions is considering what to work on next. While fans have expressed interest in sequels to *Ghost of Tsushima*, new *Sly Cooper* games, and a return to the *Infamous* series, the studio focuses on developing one game at a time. They prioritize pursuing the most compelling new idea, and currently, creating a large-scale, original game for the PS5 feels like a better direction than simply remastering an older *Infamous* title.

Ultimately, our next move – whether it’s continuing work on Ghost or revisiting Sly – depends on how much time and attention we want to dedicate to making something really good. We can only focus on one project at a time. If we could handle multiple projects simultaneously, we might be able to do a remaster or fulfill fan requests, but we’re limited to doing just one thing at a time.

You really need to bring your strongest idea to the table, because you only get one chance to implement it. It’s not that other ideas are bad, but you can only focus on a single one, and these opportunities only come around every five years. That makes the decision incredibly important – it’s like choosing your college and career path all over again.

Sucker Punch has said they’d be open to another studio remastering the *Infamous* games, but that hasn’t happened yet. A remaster might be in development somewhere without us knowing, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement.
