Summer House: KJ Dillard Shares Why He, Dara Levitan Briefly Broke Up

KJ Dillard is getting candid about a low point in his personal life.

The model shared how she and her Summer House costar, Dara Levitan, are navigating their relationship with the public after falling in love during the show’s tenth season last year.

Honestly, it’s amazing how many people have my back, and I’m so grateful for all of them. But it’s also just… brutal how much hate comes my way, you know? I was talking about it on Carl Radke’s podcast, More Life With Carl Radke, the other day, and it’s just a lot to deal with. I’m just trying to focus on the love, but the negativity is definitely there.

As the stars of Bravo’s shows near their one-year dating milestone, KJ admitted that dealing with public attention can sometimes make their relationship more difficult.

We’ve managed to stay strong despite everything we’ve been through,” the 28-year-old said. “It’s definitely been hard on us as individuals, but we both know what we want from the relationship and remember our shared history. It was a really difficult time, but honestly, it’s a love story, and we’re determined not to let anyone or anything damage what we have.

During the May 26th reunion episode of the Bravo series, KJ revealed that his mental health declined after filming ended. He was hospitalized and later diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Before the show, I wasn’t doing well at all,” the former skateboarder explained. “My modeling work had slowed down, and I’d paused it over the summer to prepare for the show. I was really struggling financially, and I was taking my stress out on my partner, Dara, without even realizing it. We were both having a hard time.

KJ also mentioned they were taking medication for anxiety and depression, but later discovered they had another, previously unknown, health condition.

He eventually reached a low point, and Dara, 33, temporarily ended their relationship because she felt she had to. A fellow actress, Mia Calabrese, encouraged Dara to give KJ some space so he could work on getting better.

KJ thought Dara was trying to make things work, but he realized that wouldn’t have been healthy for either of them. He needed time to focus on his own recovery after being in the hospital, and that’s when they ended their relationship.

Now that the actors are working together again, KJ believes their brief break was ultimately a good choice.

He admitted that if he’d been dating Dara while he was getting better, it wouldn’t have worked out. He explained he would have been too preoccupied with the relationship to prioritize his own well-being, and that getting healthy had fundamentally changed his life.

The show likely changed locations this season because comedians Hannah and Des playfully had sex in Kyle and Amanda’s bathroom, but at least their relationship is still going strong.

The couple got married on the beach in 2022 after dating for two years, and they clearly enjoy each other’s company – they’re both comedians, so they have a lot of fun together!

Hannah shared with People magazine, soon after their 2021 engagement, that he accepts her for who she is, and they have a lot of fun together. They both enjoy making each other laugh.

She explained that she was drawn to his intelligence and deeply valued his guidance and perspective. She has a lot of respect for him.

Status: Separated

Many fans of the show Summer House were hoping this couple would last, but they announced their split in January 2026. They had been married for four years and together for almost ten.

Kyle shared that nothing could have truly prepared her for a very public split. However, she emphasized that Amanda’s well-being is her priority, and she’s incredibly grateful for Amanda’s support during a difficult time, as reported by People magazine.

Although they aren’t divorced, Amanda revealed she was starting to date West in March 2026.

Status: Broken Up 

West and Ciara have had a rocky relationship since they began dating in 2022, but it appears to be over for good. West recently confirmed he is now with Amanda, who is also one of Ciara’s closest friends, in March 2026.

Although West and Ciara announced they were separating before the start of Summer House season 10 in February 2026, Ciara hinted they might have tried to reconcile. In episode seven, she admitted there was still some “attraction” between them.

Status: Broken Up

After starting their relationship in 2021, this couple from Southern Charm and Summer House broke up in 2024.

I absolutely adore Craig! Seriously, he’s one of the most amazing people I’ve ever known. I’m his biggest fan, and I always want to see him succeed – and I truly believe he will, because he deserves all the good things coming his way. I said this on Giggly Squad back in 2024, and I still feel exactly the same way.

She explained the breakup by saying it was the best choice for both of them, allowing them to pursue their individual paths without forcing anything.

This relationship was a total rollercoaster – both incredibly exciting and deeply frustrating. Their on-again, off-again dynamic was a major focus of the show one season, but it created a lot of drama for everyone the next. It’s hard to believe they were once seen as a perfect couple.

Luckily, Des reached out to Hannah through social media in 2020. Later, Luke briefly dated Ciara and then Tayshia Adams, but they broke up in 2025.

Both of the newcomers on season 10 began their time on the show single and looking for love in the summer of 2025, but they quickly became a couple and are still together now.

Carl Radke has repeatedly made poor choices, and many of them happened while he was involved with one of the Wirkus sisters. She wanted a more serious relationship than he did, and that caused a lot of drama. It’s clear that upsetting one twin means dealing with both of them, as they’re very protective of each other.

Although the pair permanently split in 2018, Carl accepted complete responsibility for why they broke up.

In a 2019 interview with The Daily Dish, Carl explained that he attributed his past behavior to his own immaturity. He also admitted he had difficulty expressing his feelings honestly with her and struggled to communicate effectively.

Status: Friends

Lindsay and Everett were one of the original couples on Summer House, starting their relationship back in 2017. They deserve credit for managing to stay friends despite having a difficult breakup.

In 2023, Everett married Courtney Cavanagh, and surprisingly, his ex-wife, Lindsay, attended the wedding in Ireland, showing they remain on good terms.

Looking back at their relationship from 2021 is a bit awkward, but Ciara and Luke did become friends after their short romance, which is how Ciara ended up joining the cast of Summer House.

Ciara and West had a complicated relationship that lasted until 2026, when they finally ended things.

Status: Broken Up 

Okay, so I was totally following Paige’s life, and it’s kinda crazy! Back in 2020, she was with this guy who never wanted to be on camera – seriously, he avoided it at all costs. Then, a year later, she started dating Craig, and honestly, I was obsessed with them as a couple! Sadly, it didn’t last, and they broke up in 2024. It was a rollercoaster, let me tell you!

Perry, meanwhile, appeared to have gotten engaged in 2023, according to his Instagram. 

Status: Broken Up

Though they initially showed a playful connection at the start of Summer House, they remained just friends until admitting their feelings for each other at Kyle and Amanda’s wedding in 2021, which quickly led to a romantic relationship.

Carl and Lindsay reunited in 2022 and got engaged later that year. However, despite planning a wedding for 2023, they ultimately called it off.

Lindsay said she was shocked when it happened. “He completely turned my life upside down,” she told US Weekly. “I was a mess – crying and furious – and I had to heal and move forward by myself. But now I’m feeling really positive about the future.”

Lindsay revealed she was expecting months after ending her relationship, and in 2024, she welcomed her daughter, Gemma, with her then-boyfriend, Tanner Kufe.

Everyone loved this couple on Summer House, and they seemed genuinely happy together, but they broke up in 2023. At first, Danielle said the split was friendly, but she changed her tune when she saw how fast Robert started dating someone else.

Danielle revealed in 2023 to The Daily Dish that her ex is now with a coworker – someone she’d previously confronted him about during their breakup, which he dismissed as her being irrational. She jokingly added, “Women’s intuition is always right.”

Danielle has since gone public with new boyfriend, tech entrepreneur Eoin Heavey.

Their relationship in 2018 was very short-lived, it’s hard to believe they were ever together. Although there was some drama when they dated, they ended things amicably—Carl even expressed sadness when Paige left Summer House in 2025.

Carl shared with TopMob News that he loves Paige. He expressed sadness about her departure, but acknowledged she had a busy summer and understood her decision.

It was clear from the start that Lindsay and Stravy wouldn’t last – she always seemed much more enthusiastic about the relationship than he was, even before he finally got around to making her that sandwich. Though they broke up in 2021 after roughly two years together, fans of Summer House will always remember his memorable PowerPoint presentation from season five.
