At last, after much anticipation, Nintendo presented a sprawling hour-long showcase on September 12th, which was packed with exciting updates. The event kicked off by paying tribute to the iconic Super Mario series in honor of its forthcoming 40th anniversary. Moreover, they confirmed the voice actors returning for the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie and revealed that two brand-new Super Mario games will be arriving on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 shortly.
Today, it’s officially been announced that the upcoming Mario film will bear the title “Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” In light of this, Nintendo is clearly excited to honor the “Super Mario Galaxy” series, with updated versions of these games arriving on the Nintendo Switch in October. Today, Nintendo has revealed that “Super Mario Galaxy ” and “Super Mario Galaxy 2” will be re-released for both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. These remasters will also include some fresh features specifically for the debut of “Super Mario Galaxy 2” on the Switch platform.
What We Know About Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch
Today’s Nintendo Direct revealed our first glimpse of the upcoming combined pack for Nintendo Switch, which includes Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. While Super Mario Galaxy was previously part of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars compilation, it is now being offered as a separate purchase on the Nintendo eShop. This standalone version will also be included in a bundle with the newly released Nintendo Switch port of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Interestingly, these games are designed to work not just on the original Nintendo Switch but also on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
The updated edition of “Super Mario Galaxy 2” includes fresh chapters from Rosalina’s storybook as part of the game’s release. Additionally, two new Amiibo figures based on characters from the original “Super Mario Galaxy” – namely Mario and Rosalina – will become available. These toys are set to debut on April 2nd. Alongside these new Amiibo, a tangible, real-world version of Rosalina’s storybook can be purchased separately as well.
Starting October 2nd, you’ll also have the option to buy each game separately from the Nintendo eShop: Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the new Switch version of Super Mario Galaxy. However, as of now, the price for the two-game bundle hasn’t been disclosed yet.
