
The new trailer released during the Super Bowl gave fans a thrilling preview of what’s to come. With Super Bowl weekend upon us, the highly anticipated trailer for is finally here.
The trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now available, and it delivers the energetic, cartoon-style action fans have been waiting for. It also offers a first look at brand new areas within the Super Mario Bros. world.
Following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie features the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. The new film will also introduce , along with the popular character Yoshi.
Sadly, a popular character named Spike, voiced by Sebastian Maniscalco, won’t be returning. Maniscalco hinted at this in 2024, saying the lack of merchandise made him doubt he’d be in the next installment.
Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who also directed the first film, return to direct The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with a script by Matthew Fogel. Illumination and Nintendo are still involved in making the movie, and Universal Pictures will distribute it.
What Can Fans Expect from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?
Keegan Michael-Key, who returns as a voice actor in the new movie, shared in late 2024 that fans can look forward to hidden details and exciting surprises. He also mentioned the sequel expands on the original story and explores fascinating new parts of the Mario universe.
Michael-Key explained that the creative team has significantly expanded the world these characters inhabit, and we’ll be introduced to a variety of new characters. This includes both familiar faces and some more obscure ones, but the unfolding story will make all of them compelling.
Chriss Pratt, who starred in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, has also discussed the exciting possibilities for future films. He pointed out that with decades of games to draw from, and a cast of beloved characters like Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi, the potential stories are endless. He believes they could spend hours just brainstorming ideas.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives in theaters on April 1.
