Earlier this year, the digital version of KinnikuNeko Super Muscle Cat was released for both PS5 and PS4. Given that it’s a tribute to ’90s anime, it was only natural that it would eventually receive a fantastic physical edition as well.
Though we usually don’t cover such exclusive physical releases, this particular collection is worth a glance, if not more.
The items inside are quite ordinary – think key rings, pin badges, and art books – yet its over-the-top fashion sense might make it an intriguing addition to your collection.
Here’s the full selection of items included for £69.99 in the collector’s box:
- Full physical game
- Instructions Booklet
- KinnikuNeko OST
- Neko Pin
- The Art of KinnikuNeko
- Lemon Keychain
- Stickers Sheet
- Postcards Set
- Collector’s Box
For individuals preferring a basic version, a conventional physical copy will also be provided. However, it’s hard to resist the enticing CD soundtrack featuring an enlarged image of the iconic cat in its Speedos, donning the title track.
For those of you not familiar with this game, here’s the official blurb:
Prepare yourself for an exhilarating 2D platform journey featuring KinnikuNeko! This muscular-bodied cat is ready to battle a massive alien force that has taken over Earth and kidnapped all its citizens. Alongside him are his comrades Lemon and Keita, who have yet to fall into the clutches of the extraterrestrial villains.
This game offers an exciting blend of platform traversal, fighting sequences, and mini-games, all presenting a lively, colorful atmosphere reminiscent of classic Saturday morning cartoons. To be honest, we’re quite fond of the visuals ourselves, and we’re considering purchasing this physical collection.
