‘Supergirl’ Teaser Trailer Reveals Milly Alcock’s DCU Hero & Jason Momoa as Lobo

The first trailer for Supergirl is here, and it signals a fresh take on heroism within the DC Universe. Following James Gunn’s Superman, this new series focuses on Kara Zor-El, who unexpectedly steps into the role of a superhero after encountering a girl from another world.

DC Studios recently released the first trailer for the upcoming Supergirl movie. It introduces Kara Zor-El (played by Milly Alcock) on her 23rd birthday, enjoying a galactic celebration with her dog, Krypto. Set to Blondie’s “Call Me,” the trailer shows Supergirl alongside a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), and features action-packed scenes of her fighting various villains. One memorable shot shows Supergirl taking down a group of enemies with a single powerful swing. The trailer also briefly shows the destruction of Krypton and offers a glimpse of Jason Momoa as Lobo, a mercenary who will encounter Supergirl.

Craig Gillespie, known for directing Cruella and I, Tonya, helms this film. Milly Alcock (from House of the Dragon) stars as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll. The screenplay is by Ana Nogueira, who is also working on the new Wonder Woman movie and a Teen Titans film.

‘Supergirl’ Star Teases How Kara Is Different From Superman

MovieWeb attended a recent press event for the new Supergirl movie, held to celebrate the release of the first teaser trailer. During a question-and-answer session led by James Gunn, director Craig Gillespie and star Milly Alcock discussed making the film. Alcock explained that her version of Supergirl is different from Superman (played by David Corenswet) because of their contrasting childhoods. Superman had a nurturing upbringing with loving parents in Smallville, but Kara Zor-El’s early life wasn’t as positive.

Supergirl’s background is vastly different from Superman’s. She grew up on a planet that was collapsing, and she’s lost everyone she’s ever cared about, making her guarded and distrustful. She keeps people at a distance and is naturally skeptical. Clark, on the other hand, is very trusting and always expects the best in others. He’s had a protected life, and also tends to hide his feelings. Kara is the opposite – she’s always genuine and doesn’t put up a front, which is really nice to portray as an actor.
