While many are looking forward to the release of Supergirl this summer, work on James Gunn’s next Superman movie, currently titled Man of Tomorrow, is already progressing well. Although the film isn’t scheduled for release until July 2027, it promises to be thrilling and intriguing. The cast is growing, with a star from Friday Night Lights joining in an as-yet-unspecified role.
I’m so excited about the cast coming together for ‘Man of Tomorrow’! I just read in The Hollywood Reporter that Sinqua Walls has joined the project, though they’re keeping his role a secret for now. It feels like every day brings a new exciting addition – last week it was Matthew Lillard, who I loved as Mr. Charles in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’! We already knew Lars Eidinger would be playing Brainiac, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and Adria Arjona is rumored to be Maxima, alongside David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It’s shaping up to be an incredible movie!
Man of Steel’s Characters Remain a Mystery (Including The Latest Casting)
It’s common for superhero movie details – like characters and who’s playing them – to be kept under wraps. However, very little is known about the characters in the upcoming “Man of Tomorrow” beyond those we already met in last summer’s “Superman.” There’s a rumor that Arjona will play Maxima, but many fans believe she might actually be Wonder Woman, and the Maxima talk is just a distraction. Lillard’s casting is also a mystery, especially considering his previous work with the director on the live-action “Scooby-Doo” movies. Fans are already trying to figure out which character Walls will portray as well.
Fans are buzzing with theories about what role actor John Boyega will play in the new DC Universe. Some believe he’ll be Cyborg, while others point to hints in a casting report suggesting he might be John Henry Irons, also known as Steel – a brilliant engineer who creates a Superman-like armored suit. There’s even speculation he could be a villain, potentially playing Metallo, a character powered by Kryptonite and a major threat to Superman. The secrecy around the casting, described as being kept under ‘lead-lined’ security, certainly fits the possibility of a powerful, potentially antagonistic role.
The cast for Man of Tomorrow is coming together nicely, and it’s full of talented actors. It will be fascinating to see how all the characters—and how their roles develop—contribute to what’s already becoming one of the most eagerly awaited movies of 2027.
