In the cinemas now is James Gunn’s film titled “Superman”. This story follows the Man of Steel, who has been serving as a superhero for three years, facing off against the cunning villain Lex Luthor. Luthor aims to eliminate Metropolis’ hero from the scene. Furthermore, Superman must win over public support since there are individuals who disapprove of his one-man crusade as a global symbol of good. Despite facing criticism, Superman remains steadfast in his mission to uphold truth, justice, and what is morally right for humankind.
In spite of repeatedly being knocked down, Superman (David Corenswet) bravely marches into the climactic battle with unwavering focus and determination. With aid from his comrades, he manages to safeguard Metropolis and the endangered nation of Jarhanpur. Additionally, he advances in his romantic connection with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). Although Superman has gained a few new adversaries, the future looks promising for him and the DCU as a collective entity.
Two of Superman’s Villains Are Sure to Come Back for More
In the movie, one of Superman’s enigmatic issues centers around Ultraman, who functions as Lex’s enforcer, attempting to seize a piece of Jarhanpur and eliminate the Man of Steel. As the film concludes, Superman returns to Metropolis to collaborate with Mister Terrific in preventing Lex’s dimensional rift from destroying the city. However, this straightforward mission becomes far more complex when the Engineer and Ultraman ambush Superman, almost ending his life. In a moment of strategic thought, Superman subdues the Engineer, leaving Ultraman as his primary adversary. It is worth noting that the Engineer belongs to the tougher DC team known as The Authority. Although it appears that a DCU Authority movie has been put on hold, this team plays a crucial role in exploring themes similar to those presented by Superman (such as what modern-day heroism entails), and we anticipate seeing the Engineer and his comrades in future DCU productions.
As Ultraman removes his mask, it’s unveiled that he is a duplicate of Superman, stronger than the original according to Lex. True to his word, Lex watches as Ultraman overwhelms his counterpart until Krypto intervenes and shifts the course of the fight. In an unexpected move, Superman hurls Ultraman into a black hole that appeared beneath Metropolis, potentially setting up for Ultraman’s return in a twisted form – or more precisely, in a “Bizzaro” form, since it seems like this twist hints at the duplicate returning later, grotesquely altered after passing through the black hole and venturing into unknown dimensions.
Simultaneously, Lex relaxes in his mobile office, observing as Superman deals with Ultraman and the rest of PlanetWatch. Once the hero finishes handling the thugs, he targets Lex. In response, Lex delivers a speech about the world being better off without the Man of Steel, while Mister Terrific seals the rift. Krypto teaches Lex a valuable lesson on respect before Superman allows soldiers to arrest the billionaire. The authorities plan to transfer him to Belle Reve, where he might encounter other criminals and scheme his next move against the DCU. Could this be the beginning of the Legion of Doom or Injustice Gang? Possibly so.
The DCU’s Heroes Are Also Coming Together
In Metropolis, Mister Terrific and Superman keep Lex under control. Meanwhile, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho journey to Jarhanpur to prevent an invasion by the Boravians. Quickly disabling tanks, Guy and even Metamorpho join in the fight, showcasing their extraordinary skills to intimidate the invaders. Leaving the battlefield, Hawkgirl pays a visit to President Vasil Glarkos, who underestimated her capabilities, but she silences him with a high drop. With Jarhanpur secured, the Justice Gang celebrates and invites Metamorpho to join their ranks. Though not yet the Justice League, they’re certainly moving in that direction, and their headquarters showcase a mural hinting at the Justice Society’s blueprint for their development.
In the DC Universe, not just one, but two Kryptonians are already safeguarding it. After the fight in Metropolis, Superman retreats to his Fortress of Solitude for some well-deserved rest and appreciates his robots for tidying up. However, before he can truly unwind, his cousin, Kara (Milly Alcock), drops by to fetch Krypto – who happens to be her pet dog. She doesn’t linger long as she has interstellar engagements, but manages to give Superman a parting jab. Her tale will continue in the DCU’s upcoming movie, Supergirl, which is based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This comic book by Tom King portrays the titular character as her galactic spree is abruptly halted, forcing her to aid a young alien girl in seeking vengeance for her father’s demise.
