Superman’s Justice Gang Reveal the Three Crossovers They Want in the DCU

Assembled from the farthest corners of the universe in their grand Hall of Justice, the most potent forces of good ever united: the world’s third-most intelligent man, tech prodigy Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi); Green Lantern Guy Gardner, who wields his power ring (Nathan Fillion); and Hawkgirl, a winged warrior armed with a mace (Isabela Merced). They are known as the Justice League, and similar to Superman (David Corenswet), they strive for truth, justice, and tranquility for all humanity.

The trailers suggest a potential conflict between the Big Blue Boyscout, or Superman, and his group of allies, who are backed by tech magnate Maxwell Lord (played by Sean Gunn). In the second season of the HBO Max series “Peacemaker,” which is set to air later this year, we will see the return of Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Merced’s Hawkgirl. They previously made an appearance in “Superman.” Notably, they are seen mocking the recruit, Christopher Smith (portrayed by John Cena), causing him to leave the room, indicating a second crossover with the larger DC Universe.

During a conversation with ComicBook, actors David Gathegi, Ely Henry Merced, and Anthony Carrigan (portraying the character Metamorpho, or the Element Man) shared which DC Universe characters they’d like to interact with in James Gunn’s growing universe.

In a recent statement, Gathegi expressed his excitement about playing the shape-shifting Martian Manhunter, J’onn J’onzz, from Mars, who is a significant figure in the Justice League and might be part of the upcoming DC Universe. He mentioned, “I believe he’s one of the most complex characters across all DC comics.” Gathegi also admitted that he finds it challenging to imagine how they would bring this character to life but is optimistic about their efforts to create a whole new universe. His hope is that if the Superman series proves successful, it will lead to increased budgets for other projects.

In the role of Spider-Girl Anya Corazon in Madame Web, Merced opted for one of the Teen Titans. (This version maintains the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language.)

Merced remarked that her character, with its dark past, seems remarkably like Raven and Hawkgirl. They’d likely have a strong connection and enjoy each other’s company, making it intriguing to imagine them together.

Carrigan proposed merging the characters of Metamorpho and Deadman, a circus aerialist whose ghost can momentarily inhabit other beings, causing terror for a continuous span of two hours as he quipped. However, he is always misinterpreted throughout this time. Essentially, it’s a horror film in nature.

Actor Barry was willing to take on two roles, that of Rex Mason and Boston Brand. He expressed his fondness for the character Deadman, stating that “two tough, bald guys just making chaos” is an exciting prospect.

This film features David Corenswet as our beloved Clark Kent/Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan portraying Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult stepping into the villainous shoes of Lex Luthor. Skyler Gisondo plays Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio takes on Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría is the Engineer, Wendell Pierce brings Perry White to life as our Daily Planet editor-in-chief, Neva Howell gives a touching performance as Ma Kent, and Pruitt Taylor Vince plays Pa Kent.
