Supernanny’s Jo Frost Reacts After Sharing Anaphylaxis Diagnosis

Jo Frost is the one receiving support this time.

Following the former Supernanny‘s open discussion about living with anaphylaxis throughout her life, she was inundated with heartfelt messages appreciating her bravery and many others recounting their personal tales of encounters with this sudden allergic reaction.

In a post on July 12th, a fan recounted an instance from the show Supernanny, where you helped a young girl tell a waitress about her allergies. This act was heartwarming to watch. Even at my age of 21, I sometimes find myself timid and hesitant to speak up, as I don’t want to cause inconvenience or worry to others.

The fan noted, “I love how you always use a loving tone when explaining things.”

In her own thoughts, Jo pondered over the incident that transpired during the eighth season’s comeback in 2020, “It was truly inspiring to assist someone so brave at such a tender age.

A different spectator too remembered that particular scene, emphasizing that Jo drew upon her personal experiences with food allergies to aid the young girl. In their words, “She mentioned she had food allergies too, and there she was, helping her overcome her fears!

And the 55-year-old responded back with a 100 percent emoji.

Additionally, Jo took time out to respond to people on social media who suggested ways to make society more understanding towards individuals with severe food allergies.

A reader commented on a topic about people who make emergency Epi-pen kits, similar to Defibrillators, for various locations. They suggested it would be excellent if establishments like restaurants, airplanes, theaters, and so on, were equipped with such kits.

To which Jo wrote back, “Agree!”

Jo, who had previously mentioned her allergies to tree nuts, peanuts, crustaceans, and shellfish during an episode of Supernanny, took the opportunity to highlight and bring attention to those facing similar life-threatening conditions as she shared her diagnosis.

In my video, I mentioned that I’ve experienced numerous anaphylactic shocks, and I’m not ready to delve into those experiences at this moment. I’m open about my medical condition, but it significantly influences my daily life in various ways. For instance, when dining out, I’m extra cautious, often questioning if the person I’m speaking with truly understands my dietary restrictions or if they’re just going along with it because they don’t feel like verifying with the chef.

Indeed, Jo emphasized the need for the end of any stigma around food allergies as “faddy diets.”

She went on to say, “I don’t require your veiled criticisms or unspoken jabs; instead, I ask for your openness to learn, for training your team, revising your policies, menus, work environments, school programs, and event spaces to be inclusive. I also request that you demonstrate compassion and understanding towards one another, as we are all responsible for the future of our children in this world.

In the March 2025 episode of his Trading Secrets podcast, he remarked that his legs from knees down were still tingling, which was surprising. To add context, he mentioned that just a few weeks earlier, or perhaps a month ago, he could squat around 295 pounds. However, now he’s unable to do even a single-legged squat; if he tries, he falls. It’s as if he’d had a stroke or something. He made sure to add that he didn’t mean to sound arrogant with his statement.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it like this: Recently, I found myself in an unexpected situation – a small particle became stuck near my eye. Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident in March 2022 during a breakfast with husband Justin Bieber. She began showing symptoms similar to a stroke, such as facial drooping and speech impairment. In her own words, she shared on YouTube that when Justin asked if she was alright, she couldn’t respond due to uncertainty and then struggled to speak.

Fortunately, the facial drooping stopped, and her speech returned. However, Hailey decided to visit a hospital to ensure everything was okay. The doctors discovered she had suffered a small blood clot in her brain, which they classified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA).

Later on, Hailey visited the University of California, Los Angeles, where they found that she had a hole in her heart known as patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot had traveled into her heart, escaped through this hole, and made its way to her brain, leading to the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well again.

In the same year as Hailey’s health scare, Justin also encountered a similar issue. Specifically, in 2022, the “Baby” singer announced his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which led to temporary facial paralysis and the cancellation of the rest of his Justice World Tour. In an Instagram video, he explained that this condition affected the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, causing facial paralysis. As viewers could see, one eye didn’t blink, he couldn’t smile on one side of his face, and one nostril didn’t move, indicating full paralysis on that side. He shared with fans that it became increasingly difficult for him to eat, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Hailey, on an episode of Good Morning America in June 2022, confirmed that Justin was recovering well and felt much better despite the unexpected and frightening situation. She expressed her relief that he was okay and would make a full recovery.

Upon visiting a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, Foxx’s sister, Deidra Dixon, drove him to a hospital. There, they discovered he had suffered a brain bleed that caused a stroke. Following a surgery on the 20th day, he awoke on May 4 in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

Expressing his gratitude, Foxx said, “I want to thank everyone for their prayers because I truly needed them.

In 2019, actress Emilia Clarke penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” for The New Yorker, revealing that while filming battle scenes for Game of Thrones, she experienced a life-threatening health issue. At the gym, she suffered a severe headache which escalated into vomiting profusely and increasing pain. Realizing her brain was damaged, she was rushed to the hospital for a scan. The diagnosis was a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During recovery, she struggled with aphasia and spoke nonsensically. However, her condition improved when the aphasia passed, allowing her to leave the hospital after a month. Unfortunately, in 2013, another scan revealed that the growth had doubled in size, necessitating additional surgery. This time, they needed to operate through her skull. Fortunately, she’s now fully recovered and in good health.

Now, I am on the road to recovery. “I’m doing great,” I said. There were some motor skills that needed work, but other than that, I was fine.

The difficulties escalated to the point where she began losing her hearing, had trouble walking for extended periods, and faced stomach issues with every meal. She was diagnosed with a complex set of health problems by various doctors who offered conflicting advice.

To seek answers and find relief, Shailene—who has a background in holistic healing practices—decided to collaborate with both traditional medical professionals and independent healers. This journey lasted for ten years as she grappled not only with the physical discomfort but also developed fears around food due to her stomach issues. These fears led to mental challenges such as body dysmorphia, confusion about identity, and feelings of insecurity regarding her own body.

However, Shailene is now feeling much better after focusing on both her physical and mental health. She shared that her health issues eventually resolved themselves, and she is happy to be in good health today.
