Surprise Return of One of the MCU’s Most Powerful Villains Addressed 2 Years After Death

Most Marvel movie fans know that characters can come back to life, even after seemingly dying. Now, one popular actor who played a major villain wants to return for future films. Marvel has brought characters like Thanos, Loki, Red Skull, and Yellowjacket back before, and Ultron is set to return in 2026 with VisionQuest. So, the idea of this villain returning isn’t surprising, and the actor is definitely open to it.

Emma Corrin portrayed the formidable Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine, the sister of Professor X and ruler of the Void, a character with the chilling ability to instantly harm others. Although Nova seemingly met her end when the heroes destroyed the Time Ripper to save Deadpool’s universe, Corrin has hinted at a possible return. In an interview with Variety, Corrin enthusiastically stated they’d “absolutely” reprise the role, believing Nova’s story isn’t finished. They even suggested a fun direction for future storylines: a sibling comedy with Professor X, similar to Step Brothers. Corrin playfully urged fans to make it happen!

Emma Corrin Felt Like an Imposter on Deadpool & Wolverine

Joining such a well-known franchise can be intimidating for any actor, but Emma Corrin faced an extra challenge stepping onto a set with major stars like Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Evans, Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum, and Jennifer Garner. Corrin told Variety they felt like an outsider, which wasn’t surprising given this was early in their career after becoming famous for The Crown. They described the experience as feeling like being in a theme park, overwhelmed and unsure if they truly belonged, saying, ‘This cannot be real. I must be walking around with a visitor’s pass.’

Fortunately, the leads and director Shawn Levy helped me feel comfortable with the large-scale production. They made the transition feel manageable, creating a welcoming and playful atmosphere rather than something intimidating. Working with Cassandra, in particular, felt empowering because my character held a position of power.

If Corrin has their way, Cassandra’s return could finally explore the complex relationship between the character and her brother. Corrin’s performance as Cassandra in Deadpool & Wolverine was a highlight – largely due to their calm and captivating portrayal – but because Cassandra wasn’t connected to the X-Men, we didn’t get to see her comic book storyline with her brother play out on screen. While Sir Patrick Stewart’s time as Professor X seems to be ending after Avengers: Doomsday, the next actor to portray a younger Charles Xavier could potentially encounter a version of Cassandra, again played by Corrin. Marvel often enjoys this type of inspired casting, and it would likely result in another fantastic performance.
