Cirie Fields’ losses were her children’s gains.
The well-known Survivor contestant shared how being on the CBS reality show for five seasons changed the way she raised her three sons: John, 36, Jamil, 31, and Jared, 27.
As a mom, one of the things I really valued was letting my kids see all sides of me, even when I was competing on Survivor. I wanted them to witness both my triumphs and my setbacks. It was important to me that they understood success isn’t everything – it’s truly about the experiences you have and the person you become along the way. That’s what I shared with TopMob News at the season 50 premiere in New York!
The 55-year-old actor, who appears with Mike White, Q Burdette, and Savannah Louie this season, explained that his children have seen his personal growth firsthand. They feel he’s succeeded in many ways, and they’ve shared that they’ve been there to witness his entire journey.
Cirie, a veteran of Survivor seasons 12, 16, 20, and 34 (known as Panama, Micronesia, Heroes vs. Villains, and Game Changers respectively), believes watching her children learn from her experiences on the show has been as valuable as anything she’s learned herself.
Being on Survivor has been a deeply transformative experience, revealing strengths and vulnerabilities I never knew I possessed. It challenges you to confront your weaknesses and push beyond your perceived limits, and I always learn something new about myself.

After winning Traitors and finishing filming Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans (which began airing February 25th on CBS with new episodes every Wednesday), she’s keeping an open mind about what’s next.
I was so inspired by her words! She told me she has a huge list of things she still wants to experience – things like skydiving and even climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. She really believes anything is possible now, and she credits Survivor with giving her that mindset. It’s amazing to see how the show changed her perspective and made her feel so empowered.

Cirie realized that many of her old limitations were self-imposed. She described destroying a mental list of things she believed she couldn’t achieve twenty years ago, because she now believes anything is possible.
You can watch Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans on CBS every Wednesday. Cirie isn’t the only familiar face returning for this special 50th season – keep reading to find out who else is competing!

Season 37 (DAVID VS. GOLIATH)

As a die-hard Survivor fan, I have to say that some seasons just stand out. For me, seasons 12 (Panama – Exile Island), 16 (Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites), 20 (Heroes vs. Villains), and 34 (Game Changers) are absolute classics. They’re the ones I always come back to, and I think they really represent the best of what the show has to offer!

As a longtime Survivor enthusiast, I’ve seen a lot of seasons, and some really stand out! If you’re looking for incredible gameplay and compelling characters, I always recommend checking out seasons 13 (Cook Islands), 16 (Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites), 23 (South Pacific), and 34 (Game Changers). They’re consistently ranked among the best for a reason – trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
