Sweet Magnolias season 5 release date revealed by Netflix with first look at returning cast

Netflix has revealed when fans can expect Sweet Magnolias season 5 to land on our screens.

The latest season of the show, about three close friends in South Carolina and their life journeys, will begin streaming on Netflix on June 11, 2026.

Along with the announcement of when the show will premiere, the streaming service also shared a sneak peek photo of Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Helen (Heather Headley) filming a scene in Central Park, New York.

Fans who watched the season 4 finale won’t be surprised to learn where the story continues. The season ended with Maddie receiving a job offer in New York, and that’s where we’re headed next.

Sheryl J. Anderson, the showrunner and executive producer, recently announced that season 5 will bring the characters to New York City, saying, “We are thrilled to let the Magnolias take Manhattan.”

She explained that this adventure wasn’t just enjoyable, but also a chance for everyone to see how their relationships worked in a new situation. Having good friends is important for everyday life, but it’s even more valuable to have them there for you when you’re trying something challenging.

The streaming service revealed in April that the show, adapted from the popular books by Sherryl Woods, will return for a fifth season.

Season 5 will feature both familiar and new characters. Jamie-Lynn Sigler joins the cast as Nell Winters, a writer who becomes friends with Maddie.

Janice Wesley will play Miss Eustice, Courtney Grace will play Courtney Sinclair, and John Gabriel Rodriquez will play Clark Bellson. They are also joining the cast.
