Sydney Sweeney isn’t taking any credit for the chatter about her love life.
Following speculation about a possible romance with her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell, the actress confirmed they are not in a relationship. She also stated that their on-screen chemistry wasn’t manufactured for publicity surrounding the 2023 film.
She told Variety in an interview published on October 27th that the media created the narrative themselves, and there wasn’t any prompting from her side.
Despite lots of rumors circulating when the movie was being promoted, the 28-year-old actress—who was engaged to Jonathan Davino then—said she and her 37-year-old co-star, Glen, maintained a professional relationship.
She explained that the media really built up the story and wouldn’t let it go. Even simple interactions, like just standing near each other, were exaggerated. They’d report something like, ‘They were only two inches apart!’
Just because Sydney and her scene partner don’t have romantic chemistry doesn’t mean they don’t care about each other.
You know, Glen and I have a really special connection. We genuinely care for each other, and there’s a deep love and respect between us. I just adore being with him, and I think people could really see that – we just seemed to fit perfectly together. It was a beautiful thing to witness, and honestly, to experience!
The Euphoria actress hinted that she and Glen Powell wouldn’t need much persuading to star in a follow-up to their movie, Anyone But You.
She said they’re definitely interested in working together again. She believes that as soon as they find the perfect idea and script, she and Glen will enthusiastically collaborate.
Sydney didn’t publicly emphasize her connection with Glen, but Glen, the actor from Twisters, has said they both knew fans wanted them to be a couple.

According to an interview with the New York Times in April 2024, the key to a successful romantic comedy is having fun and believable chemistry between the leads. He explained that he and Sydney have a natural connection and enjoy working together, which translates on screen and makes audiences want to see that same energy in real life. He believes they embraced this dynamic, and it really paid off.
Things didn’t go well for Glen’s former girlfriend, Gigi Paris, whose three-year relationship with the Top Gun: Maverick actor ended in 2023. She said in June that the rumors about Glen and Sydney made the problems in her relationship even worse.
She explained on the Too Much podcast in June that she simply wanted to be treated with respect, particularly when things were being discussed publicly. She didn’t want to be made to look foolish.
As for Glen, he noted that his ex is entitled to her perspective on the matter.
He told GQ magazine in September that he will always love and respect her. He acknowledged that everyone will have their own interpretation of events, and she’s free to have hers.

Emma Watson has revealed she had a childhood crush on her Harry Potter co-star, Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy). During the 20th anniversary special, she admitted to falling in love with him while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. She used to check the daily call sheet for his name (number 7) and was thrilled when he was scheduled to be on set. While he saw her as a younger sister, fans quickly began hoping for a real-life romance after hearing her story. However, Emma has clarified in an interview with British Vogue that they remain close friends, speaking weekly, and find the fan speculation “sweet.” She has effectively shut down any rumors of a potential relationship.

Oh my god, can you believe it?! It turns out Ross and Rachel almost happened for real! During the reunion, Jen and David – my absolute favorite couple on screen – revealed that they totally had a crush on each other during the first season! David said they were both crushing hard, but someone was always dating someone else, so they never actually crossed that line. They were so respectful of that, which is so sweet! Jen even remembered saying she was worried their first kiss would be on national television… and guess what? It was! Right there in Central Perk! Can you even?! Instead of getting together themselves, they poured all that amazing chemistry and affection into Ross and Rachel. It’s just… everything! They basically became Ross and Rachel, and honestly, I ship it so hard even now!

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are one of the most beloved on-screen couples ever, and fans have been hoping they’d get together since their 1996 film, Titanic (despite the famous door situation!). They’ve remained close friends ever since, with Kate recently sharing that they share a lifelong bond. Over the past twenty years, their connection has been clear, from red carpet appearances at the 1998 Golden Globes to DiCaprio’s sweet support during Winslet’s emotional 2009 Golden Globes acceptance speech – and it’s a friendship that has clearly flourished, regardless of any obstacles.

The strong connection between the actors in the 2019 film A Star Is Born, and the attention they received during interviews and appearances, led many fans to overlook the fact that both were already in relationships at the time – Bradley Cooper with Irina Shayk and Lady Gaga with Christian Carano. Despite this, it was obvious that the costars shared a special bond, with Gaga describing an immediate connection with Bradley from the moment they met. This closeness was particularly evident during their performance of their award-winning song, “Shallow,” at the 2019 Oscars, performed hand-in-hand shortly after Gaga had ended her engagement.
Following their performance, Lady Gaga quickly dismissed rumors of a romance with Bradley Cooper, telling Jimmy Kimmel that they intentionally created the impression of a connection. Cooper, who split from Irina Shayk later that year, didn’t directly address the speculation until November 2021, when he told The Hollywood Reporter that their performance was acting. He explained that their characters in the film fall in love during that scene, and the powerful moment they shared onstage in front of a large audience would have felt strange if they hadn’t played it that way.

For decades, rumors have circulated about a possible romance between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock after they starred together in 1994’s Speed. However, Sandra has repeatedly denied they were ever a couple. In an interview with Esquire, she playfully said, “Nope…but who knows?” She explained that Keanu is the kind of person who remains friends with all his exes, and she admires him greatly. She wonders if they could have made it work, but ultimately feels grateful they were able to maintain a close friendship over the years.
Sandra and Keanu also starred together in 2006’s The Lake House, and she credits his ability to listen as one of his best qualities. She recalled a story from about a year after filming Speed when she casually mentioned she’d never tried champagne and truffles. A few days later, Keanu surprised her by personally delivering champagne, truffles, and flowers, simply saying he thought she might like to try them.

Fans love seeing Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone together on screen, having starred as romantic leads in three movies, including La La Land.
Although they’ve never been a couple in real life, working together has created a strong connection between them. At the 2018 Telluride Film Festival, Emma Stone shared how much Ryan Gosling means to her and how he’s influenced her life and career, calling him a “dear, wonderful friend.” She admitted she couldn’t imagine her life without him, adding, “He’s so special, it makes me emotional.”
Before La La Land came out in 2016, Emma playfully joked to TopMob News that Ryan had a “restraining order” against her because of how often they worked together.
Despite the joke, Ryan said he enjoyed working with Emma, explaining that their familiarity brings out the best in both of them, allowing them to support each other in ways that wouldn’t be possible with someone they didn’t know well.

Jim and Pam’s relationship on The Office is one of television’s most popular couples, and fans followed their connection throughout the show’s nine seasons. Despite the strong on-screen chemistry, actors John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer never became romantically involved in real life.
Jenna Fischer once explained that while a part of her felt a genuine love for John, mirroring the characters of Pam and Jim, they weren’t a perfect match outside of the show. She described their connection as a long-term partnership and said they’ll always share a close bond because of it.
John later clarified that Jenna’s comments about being “genuinely in love” were misinterpreted and taken out of context, and he felt bad that she faced negative attention for them.
Their iconic teapot remains a symbol of their memorable connection.

Gaga isn’t the first co-star Bradley has been romantically linked to in the press, with his onscreen dynamic with Jennifer in movies such as Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle sparking rumors for years.
In fact, Bradley was asked by Howard Stern in 2015, “When are you two gonna have sex? Everyone is waiting for that.” Bradley was quick to respond, “Never. It’s just not the way we are together.”
And, at the 2013 Golden Globes, when he was asked by Entertainment Tonight if they were were dating, Bradley responded, “Oh my god. That’s very funny. No, my God, no.”

Though Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson starred together in the 2006 romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and fans hoped they’d become a couple in real life, they never dated. In a 2020 interview with Howard Stern, Matthew explained that he generally avoids dating costars, preferring to keep things professional. He admitted there might have been some mutual crushes over time, but they always maintained a professional relationship.
And with that, the chance for their love to blossom died, just like that love fern.

These top-tier friends have incredible chemistry on screen – think Ocean’s Eleven – and that connection clearly extends to their real lives, though it’s a purely friendly bond. You can see it in their fun interviews, how warmly they speak about each other publicly, and even in generous gestures like George Clooney letting the Roberts-Moder family use his Lake Como home to celebrate their anniversaries. It’s a testament to their close relationship!

Every New Year’s Eve, people often wonder if close friends and CNN’s New Year’s Eve co-hosts, Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, have ever been more than just friends. Andy recently addressed the question on Howard Stern’s radio show, explaining that a romantic connection simply wasn’t part of their relationship. He said they’re just good friends who know each other too well to be attracted to each other that way.
It’s ironic, considering they were originally set up on a blind date over 25 years ago! Anderson recalled on The Tonight Show that people often try to match up gay friends, and he immediately knew during a phone call to arrange the date that he wouldn’t be going out with Andy. The dealbreaker? Andy asked about Anderson’s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt – a topic Anderson considered off-limits for a first date. Andy playfully admitted he was excited to date someone from the famous Vanderbilt family!

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt enjoyed working together on their 2009 film, 500 Days of Summer. However, Joseph later confessed in a 2012 Playboy interview that dating Zooey, who was also a close friend, would have been uncomfortable. He acknowledged that fans often wished they were a couple, and he and Zooey found the idea amusing, especially considering their decade-long friendship.

Before Zac Efron became known for dating his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, many people thought he was involved with their close friend Ashley. Their on-screen chemistry in a 2006 episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody added to the speculation.
Even now, Zac and Ashley remain very close, with Ashley often referring to him as her “brother/best friend.” However, she once jokingly called him her worst onscreen kisser in an interview with Elle.
She explained that it felt awkward because they were so close, and he was used to a different style of acting on the CW network while they were working on Disney Channel. She even recalled having to tell him to stop trying to kiss her with his tongue, reminding him that it was Disney Channel and they didn’t kiss like that.
Ashley added that their long-standing friendship and previous work together made the kiss feel even stranger, saying they were simply too close for it to feel natural.

Though their characters Chad and Taylor were a couple on High School Musical, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman remained close friends after leaving the Disney series.
The pair recently shared the screen again in the 2021 Lifetime Christmas movie, A Christmas Dance Reunion. Corbin shared on Instagram that working with Monique after 13 years felt like reconnecting with family, and that starring in a Lifetime Christmas movie was a dream come true, especially alongside someone he considers a favorite person.
Monique also expressed her desire to work with her “best friend” again, telling People magazine that she believes they have a special on-screen chemistry, similar to iconic movie couples like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. She hopes they’ll have the opportunity to explore that potential in future projects.

Despite playing the famously uncertain couple on The X-Files, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson didn’t get along during filming. In a 2008 interview with Metro UK, David explained that they frequently argued during the show’s first eight years simply because they were around each other so much. He said, “Familiarity breeds contempt. It’s nothing to do with the other person. We used to argue about nothing. We couldn’t stand the sight of each other.”
Despite their on-set friction, fans continued to root for Mulder and Scully to become a couple, both in the show and in real life. A photo from their lunch date in May 2021 went viral, which David found amusing. He told People that Gillian suggested they take the photo, and he was surprised by the huge reaction it received. He said it was “really cool that people are interested after all these years.”

Fans who want to see Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans as a couple are very enthusiastic! Though they’ve acted together in eight movies since first working on The Perfect Score in 2004, they’ve never dated in real life. However, Scarlett and Chris have become very close over the years. In a March 2020 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scarlett explained that their on-screen chemistry comes from a decade of friendship and a deep understanding of each other.
