I’ve been seeing amazing fan art online imagining Sydney Sweeney as Power Girl in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, and honestly, it makes so much sense! She’s been incredible in shows like Euphoria, Anyone But You, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The White Lotus – she’s really become one of the most talked-about actors of her generation. It’s no surprise people are already picturing her as a superhero, whether it’s in the MCU or now, the DCU!
Fans are imagining Sydney Sweeney as Power Girl in the DC Universe, and concept art shared on Instagram by @21xfour shows how well she could fit the role. Power Girl is the Earth-2 version of Supergirl (played by Milly Alcock in the upcoming Superman and Supergirl projects). After a less-than-ideal debut in Sony’s Madame Web, taking on the role of Power Girl could be a great way for Sweeney to establish herself as a compelling superhero.
This project explores creative concepts, starting with initial ideas and developing them into something new and imaginative. One example is a concept for a DC Universe Power Girl, envisioned with Sydney Sweeney in the role. The character is presented as strong and formidable – someone you wouldn’t want to cross. How Would Power Girl Fit Into James Gunn’s DC Universe?

I’ve been a fan of Power Girl for ages, and it’s exciting to think about her finally joining the DC Universe! She first showed up way back in 1976, in All Star Comics #58, introducing herself to the Justice Society as Kara Zor-El, a different version of Supergirl from another Earth. She ended up stuck on our main Earth, meeting our Supergirl and a version of herself. With the new Superman and Supergirl being introduced, and Peacemaker already hinting at alternate universes, it feels like everything is setting the stage for Power Girl’s arrival, and I can’t wait!
Season two of Peacemaker introduced alternate realities through a device called the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, and the DC Universe will continue to explore these different worlds. One world, Salvation – where Peacemaker was sent by Rick Flag Sr. – will likely be featured in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie. However, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber has 100 doors leading to different universes, meaning other alternate realities, like Earth-2, are also possible. This opens the door for characters like Power Girl and other alternate versions of heroes to make an appearance.
Sydney Sweeney, at 28, would be an excellent pick to play Power Girl alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl (age 25). Sweeney has proven she can handle diverse and complex characters, including tough, street-smart roles. This skillset is ideal for Power Girl, who, unlike Superman, wants to establish her own identity and become a more independent, grown-up hero. With Power Girl potentially appearing in Supergirl: Man of Tomorrow or other DC Universe projects, fans would be thrilled to see Sweeney take on the part.
