I was so excited to hear from Over The Moon, the team behind The Last Hero of Nostalgaia! They’ve announced their next game, Kill Joy, and it sounds totally unique. It’s an exploration game where you actually have to make happy rainbows and unicorns cry to escape this weird nightmare world. They’ve said The Outer Wilds was a big inspiration, which is awesome. It’s coming to PC via Steam, but we don’t have a release date yet – I’m already counting down the days!

We don’t offer much guidance, because figuring out how everything works is part of the experience. You’re on your own to unravel the mysteries of this strange world!
Swearing is Not Combat—It’s How You Explore
In Kill Joy, you don’t shoot, punch, or cast spells. You swear.
In this world, you communicate by yelling at things. Creatures will react in different ways – some laugh, some get scared, and others cry. But when they cry, something changes, revealing the artificial nature of everything around you. Each reaction is a hint, and every harsh word is a way to figure out the hidden rules of a place that seems to want you to stay content, peaceful, and unaware.
A Pastoral Hell
This world seems like a joyful fantasy, filled with colorful fields, chatty rabbits, and kind unicorns. But beneath that cheerful exterior, there’s a disturbing problem.
