Tank action adventure game TankRat announced for PS5, PC

Kepler Interactive and Alpha Channel are releasing a remastered version of their tank action game, originally known as TankHead, now called TankRat. The new version will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) in spring 2026. Players who already own TankHead on the Epic Games Store will get TankRat as a free update.

After a devastating war left the world’s most beautiful city in ruins, the Event Containment Area now stands as a reminder of both what humans can achieve and the destruction they can cause.

The world is a desolate scrapyard, filled with the broken remains of past mistakes. Humanity now exists as consciousnesses transferred into robotic bodies called “Shells.” These powerful drones search for and operate the armored tanks left over from a bygone era.

You are Whitaker, a Sleepwalker – a digital mind living inside a Needle, a tough drone designed to withstand the dangers of the ECA. Staying alive will depend on eliminating threats, one by one.

What if someone already owns TankHead on Epic Games Store?

If you already have TankHead on the Epic Games Store, you’ll automatically get a free upgrade to TankRat when it launches, giving you access to all the new features and content. The game’s listing will be updated with the new name and details sometime in Spring 2026.

Why the name change?

We updated the game’s name to reflect how much it’s changed. We felt it better highlights the core idea of a scavenger character and hints at the huge enemies you’ll face while exploring the desolate world.

So, I’m playing this game with this guy Whitaker, and he’s got this guide, Cyril. Cyril’s a total enigma – super charming, but he’s a mechanical being, which is already weird. He seems to know a lot more than he lets on, and honestly, he’s all about the money, so it’s hard to know if I can even trust him. He’s definitely a shady character!
