Tara Lipinski Addresses Her Traitors Castmates Saying Her Name Wrong

The Traitors cast isn’t being faithful to Tara Lipinski‘s name.

People watching the Peacock competition show have noticed that several of the Olympic figure skater’s fellow contestants on season four keep saying her name wrong. They’re pronouncing it “TAIR-uh” instead of the correct pronunciation, “TAH-rah,” even though she’s tried to correct them.

After TikTok creator Hope Sloop posted a video on January 25th wondering why people mispronounce her name, Tara, the Olympic gold medalist responded, saying she eventually stopped correcting people.

To make matters worse, Tara’s close friend and fellow skater Johnny Weir was also on the show, but the other contestants didn’t seem to listen to his advice or insights.

As Tara put it, “At least Johnny said my name right.”

Maybe the other commentators didn’t pronounce Tara’s name correctly because they weren’t aware of Johnny’s close relationship with her outside of the broadcast.

Interestingly, the pair intentionally pretended to hardly know each other as part of their plan before filming The Traitors.

Johnny, 41, revealed on Watch What Happens Live on January 20th that they intentionally kept quiet about accepting the offer. He explained that both he and the other person received the offer during the same phone call, and they both knew they were going, but wanted to avoid drawing attention to themselves.

Everyone thought Tara, 43, and Johnny were just friends, but they actually managed to trick many people at the castle.

“Celebrities I guess aren’t our target demographic,” he laughed, “so they just didn’t know.”

Many of the competitors on Traitors were surprised to learn how close Johnny and Tara had become after filming the show.

After filming wrapped up, we were flooded with messages saying people hadn’t realized the extent of what we were doing,” Johnny explained. “It was really surprising!
