Tarek El Moussa Addresses Las Vegas Confrontation Over His Father

Tarek El Moussa is speaking out about his recent brush with the law.

After being cited for battery in Las Vegas three months ago – stemming from an altercation with a man and his father – the reality TV star known as ‘Flip Off’ finally spoke publicly about what happened.

It was a difficult situation,” he explained to Entertainment Tonight on September 16th, speaking with his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. “I felt like I had to stand up for my father, and it all just happened very unexpectedly.”

“Luckily, everything is okay,” he continued. “I think everything is gone now and done now.”

Tarek, 44, and Heather, 38, were visiting for a speaking event with their parents when a disagreement happened. A source told TopMob News that Tarek wasn’t arrested, and was actually defending his elderly father.

Newly released bodycam footage shows Tarek – who has two young children, Tristan, 2, with Heather, and Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 10, with his ex-wife Christina Haack – speaking with police after an incident. He’s seen talking to officers while his father sits quietly nearby.

I was really struck by what Tarek shared in the video. He described getting right up to the other person, chest to chest, and then boldly asking, with a lot of force, if there was an issue, making it clear he was defending his father. It was a powerful moment, showing how fiercely he protects his family.

After Tarek completed counseling and avoided further legal issues, a judge ultimately dropped the case, as reported by *People* magazine in August.

“Everyone’s okay,” Tarek told ET. “I didn’t get in trouble with the law by any means.”

Now that a difficult time is over, Tarek can concentrate on his family. He and his ex-wife, Christina, who separated in 2018, recently came together to celebrate the beginning of the new school year.

Christina, 42, shared a photo on Instagram in August of her son Bray starting 4th grade. The picture also included Tarek, Heather, and Tristan. She captioned it with excitement about the ‘new school, fresh start, and new adventures,’ while jokingly anticipating some ‘chaos!’

Christina and Tarek welcomed their first child together on Sept. 22, 2010.

Even after their divorce, Christina and her ex-partner continued to raise their daughter together. Christina has described her daughter as remarkably mature for her age, able to have profound conversations one moment and act like a typical child the next.

She described Taylor as someone who can easily strike up a conversation with anyone, adding that she’s fun, intelligent, athletic, genuinely happy, and always keeps things interesting.

Christina and Tarek welcomed their second child together on Aug. 20, 2015.

Besides their oldest daughter, Taylor, Tarek and his ex-wife have continued to raise their son, Brayden, together. Tarek has often said Brayden is full of energy and incredibly kind-hearted.

Tarek said his son brings so much joy to his life. He feels incredibly lucky to be a father to both his sons and cherishes watching them grow up, calling it the greatest happiness a dad could ask for.

Following her separation from Tarek, Christina began dating Ant, a TV presenter from England, in October 2017. They publicly confirmed their relationship in January 2018, coinciding with the finalization of Christina’s divorce. The couple then married in a winter wedding at their home in Newport Beach, California, on December 22, 2018.

Christina and Ant are parents to son Hudson, who was born in 2019. Ant also has two children, Amelie and Archie, with his former wife, Louise Storey.

The couple was married for just under two years and announced they were separating in September 2020. Their divorce became official nine months after that.

Since the split, Ant has moved on with actress Renée Zellweger.

Christina and Ant had a son on September 6, 2019. He weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 19.5 inches long at birth.

When Ant and his ex-wife finalized their divorce in June 2021, they agreed to share legal and physical custody of their son, Hudson. However, in April 2022, Ant petitioned the court for sole custody, stating in legal filings that his ex-wife only spends about nine days each month with their child.

The former couple settled their custody arrangement in December, agreeing to continue sharing both legal and physical custody of their son, Hudson, according to court records from TopMob News.

Tarek and Heather Rae Young first connected on the Fourth of July in 2019 while celebrating on boats next to each other in Newport Beach, California. Later that month, they were seen kissing on a yacht, and Tarek confirmed their relationship to TopMob News in August, happily stating, “I never thought I’d say this again, but Heather Rae is officially my girlfriend.”

The couple announced their engagement in July 2020 and married on October 23, 2021, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony near Santa Barbara, California.

Heather often calls herself the “bonus mom” to Tarek’s children, Taylor and Brayden. She’s said she feels like she already has two kids of her own, explaining that she and Tarek share custody of his children 50% of the time. She loves being a mother figure to them and treats them as if they were her own.

Tarek and Heather’s son was born on January 31, 2023, weighing 7 pounds and 7 ounces.

Heather explained that Tarek was originally going to be named Tristan, but his parents ultimately decided on the name Tarek instead.

His middle name is a nod to Heather’s dad.

After divorcing her second husband, Ant, Christina started seeing Josh in 2021. They publicly announced their relationship in July, sharing that they’d already been dating for several months.

The *Flip or Flop* star says she met Josh, a real estate agent, last spring after a period of personal growth. She explains she was feeling calm and centered, having stepped back from social media, worked with a spiritual coach, and even tried a Bufo toad ceremony to help her “reset” her thinking.

Christina and Josh got engaged that September and tied the knot on Oct. 6, 2021.

The couple’s wedding date remained private until Josh filed for divorce on July 15, 2024, stating they had differences that couldn’t be resolved.

The pair finalized their divorce in August 2025.

You know, I’ve always believed in creating spaces that tell a story, and recently, I got a peek into Christina Hall’s personal story. Before her recent home remodel featured on *Christina on the Coast* on July 11th, 2024, she hadn’t really shared much about her upbringing. We’d mostly seen her parents in their role as grandparents, which was lovely, but this remodel really opened a window into her childhood and where she came from. It was a beautiful reveal!

She mentioned in a 2019 Instagram post that their families-hers and Tarek’s-all watch Taylor perform together at her school’s yearly Christmas concert.

She mentioned that several people had commented on how well this arrangement was working, noting it’s common for divorced parents – like Tarek’s – to prioritize their children’s events this way, and it ultimately makes things simpler for everyone. She also shared that seeing them all together supporting Taylor clearly makes her daughter happy.

While Josh gained attention through his relationship with Christina, his sisters were already famous back in the 2000s.

Oh my god, Stacie! I totally remember her from *The Hills* – everyone called her ‘Stacie the Bartender,’ and Spencer was *always* trying to get her attention! It was so iconic. And then she was in *Vanderpump Rules* too! Season three, specifically – she was one of Scheana’s bridesmaids, which was amazing. I was obsessed with her whole vibe!

Jessica also appeared on several reality TV shows, including *The Hills* and various series featuring Kendra Wilkinson, like *The Girls Next Door*, *Kendra*, *Kendra on Top*, and *Kendra Sells Hollywood*, to support her close friend.

Angelique, Tarek’s older sister, owns Latitude 33 Hair Artistry in Anaheim, California. She bought a house that Tarek and Christina had renovated in 2014, featured on an episode of *Flip or Flop*. Later, in 2019, she collaborated with her brother, the HGTV host, on a digital series.

Tarek El Moussa’s mother, Dominique, is divorced from his father, whose identity she and Tarek have kept private. She is now married to Robert, who often expresses his deep affection for her on Instagram, calling her “the love of my life.”

Tarek has always kept his father’s identity private, but in a Facebook post from November 2017, he mentioned his ‘old man’ was celebrating his 70th birthday.

He shared a touching message about his father, emphasizing how much their relationship means to him. He expressed gratitude for his father’s encouragement and support, saying it helped him achieve his goals. He credits his father with shaping who he is today and plans to pass on those valuable lessons to his own children.

Tarek shared with *Country Living* that his father grew up Catholic in Lebanon and Egypt, while his mother, who is from Belgium, was someone he met as a teenager while both were in Europe.
